I thought yours were very big for yeast, but I'm used to looking at 2" plates so that probably skews my judgement a bit.

I love how rhizo this plate turned out compared to how tomentose so many others were. Whenever you guys are doing a transfer from a fully colonized plate, where do you cool your scalpel down?

in the myc covered agar. It's not like you're going to scald all the myc on the wedge to death.

I don't event think I've seen a picture this bad. Top pins, left pins, right pins, front pins, back pins, and yup,,, bottom pins.
Was a very close to just saying fuck it and take the bigger ones and toss the whole thing.
Took some clone tissues yesterday and put apin on agar. Trimmed off most of them then put the sub in the retirement home to do what it wants.
No way I was gonna put that back in the shoe box. It's like a Pappiloma sub. Nice n tight clusters though and lots of tea material. I know I don't have my sub conditions down yet but never had close to this much side pin failure. Curious if the clones are gonna be this unruly.

I always thought it was a bad idea to spawn hot. Interesting.

Thanks. My current line of thinking is that spawning to room temp coir is actually a form of cold shocking that adds a day or two to colonization time as mycelium has to recover and bring the substrate up to its temperature.
I've just taken that concept to the opposite extreme. There's probably a happy medium somewhere around 100F.
This is far from proven & I encourage people to try it out and post results here.

that pic doesn't exactly sway me to think otherwise. pretty mutated and low yield for a full tub of dicks. even the normal fruits look small. it looks like what a damaged culture might produce.

yeah, no. for cubes thats gonna be more like the temperature of death. they don't enjoy going above 80 F. A happy cubensis culture will only be a few degrees warmer than room temperature.

Rye, but make sure the Hpoo is well leached. Aka field-aged. Smell should be like dirt, not like horseshit.
