I stumbled on these bottles I made quite a while ago using a very old and week wiki culture. I had completely forgotten about them. They almost look like they are making stones.
Very interesting Muda. What do you plan on doing with it? What sort of temperatures were the bottles exposed to?

So I have had great success with this TEK so far, it is my new go-to cultivation method. Here are some pics of recent success using this TEK:

Just wanted to say if your new to cultivation this is a method that you can have success with so give it a try.

Dont think its recommended but a friend I gifted a bottle tek too kept refilling the holes left behind from pulling them with coir/verm (against my advice) and its lasted quite a while. Hell, the mini-mono which I used the same sub as the bottle contaminated after the second flush... hers is still going strong.
Which reminds me...

For the record, it wasnt fucked and has actually fruited some gorgeous looking stuff since then. Wasnt the "Bouquet of Shrooms" I was going for and the bag was way too thin but its still kicking. More importantly she loved it.

I guess "fucked" is subjective. I still maintain it was full of bacteria, but bacterial subs can definitely fruit. That's actually one of the coolest benefits to bottles. Since you're not breaking the substrate apart and spreading it like grains, you can case and fruit with much less chance of true fuckery (can also do this with straight fucked grain jars, too). Nice fruits, man.

Has anyone tried using a Mix of Coir/BRF and some verm in their bottle tek adventures? I want to use it, I have a bunch of coir leftover so I'm not getting shredded straw (plus I'm in an apt).
Let me know what you think of my recipe idea, and let me know what proportions of each you would use.
Hydrated Coir BRF/ WBS Flour / Whole Wheat Flour / Whatever leftover grains I have flour Ground up doggy food Maybe some verm if the coir isn't enough water retention Bit of Gypsum
Plan is to have a dry mixture to mix in with the hydrated coir/verm, no grain prep allowed (lazy fucker mode, if it works you will thank me later)
Help me figure out the ratios babes!

I used about 5-10 ml of LC per quart of 50/50 coir wbs and most of them stalled out 1/2-3/4 way through. Id either use a lot more LC or use G2G to make sure it finishes. When i cracked the bottles open they had colonized coir blocking the GE port. I think the heat wave played a part in slowing down colonization.
Munchauzen has a coir bottle recipe you can check out.

I left those wiki bottles laying around a bit longer and they fruited invitro. Looks like they might have actually done ok if I had remembered to fruit them

Howdy, first post. Been lurking and doing bottle tek for 5 months now. Thanks, Muda (and Violet). I tried an idea that seems to work, so I thought I'd share. I grow on half brown rice/ half grass seed. After the first flush, I remove the "puck", soak, and roll it in verm. I then put them in small fruiting chambers made from Costco rotisserie chicken containers. They fruit from all over, and free up my bottles for a new round. Bottles are Ziplock ( Violet's fave) and wide mouth pint glass canning jars. There, first post done. Thanks again, everyone!!!

Replying to my own post, as my bottles finish their initial flush, the substrate pulls away from the side of the jar, and they start side pinning like crazy. I figured why harvest the deformed side pins when I can give them room to grow fat and sassy. I know it feels and looks like I'm regressing to PFTek, but It works really well, and as I said before, it frees up my bottles for more fun and games. Thanks again for all the help, ya'll. This is a great place to hang.

I do the same marsupialx, had one batch that refused to fruit from the casing and side pinned like crazy so I popped them all out to fruit.

Thanks for the feedback, Sandman420. The thing I like about bottle tek is I have done a lot of grows, allowing a lot of experimentation, in my 5 months of growing. The yields are not huge, by any means, but I feel I have learned quite a bit. I'm starting to get a feel for conditions, much more than if I had done a couple of tubs. This is an amazing resource. In March, I didn't know it was possible to grow your own. Having spores available legally is astounding. Thanks again to you all!
