Think Im going to repot and begin acclimating to outside soon. Probably need to feed it too because it's been growing somewhat slow recently.

That hirsuta needs a bigger place to spread its "wings". All depends on ypur situations.

Yeah I tried finding a taller grow tub for it, but Im just gonna acclimate it to be outdoors.
I have a grow tent but Im going to orient it on it's side so it will be wider to hold more cactus seedlings, so that kind of rules out keeping the hirsuta in there.

Not in my experience, although I only grow Rifat.

According to stuff i read on reddit it just completely has to do with the conditions its grown in.

IDK how true that is though...

Environmental conditions can play a large part in how the plant looks. Red is generally considered to be a symptom of sun stress in plants that aren't that colour.

I haven't noticed this with Rifat though.

Im not sure which one is the bumble bee and which one is the 'pink vein indo'. They got mixed up before I was able to label them.

Im thinking to cut both of them back down to a little past the first branches.
I want to train them to stand up straight once they grow back.
Hoping to make lots of cuttings out of the cut stems.

Did that one collapse on it's own or from shipping?

I have a clone that's putting out new leaves but won't stand straight or grow towards the light when I rotate the pot.

Is it just top heavy? I want to stake it but don't want to hurt the baby roots.

Looks as though the bottom portion of the stem has been bent into that shape. Probably not much to do about it other than repot to straighten it. The wood isn't supple anymore and is starting to thicken.

The tip which is starting to grow will eventually grow straight. Nothing to worry about in my opinion.

Thank you for the reassurance karode

I wasn't too concerned until I started acclimating to sunlight. When it droops the stem leans further down. After the sun passes it pops up into that funky position again.

It's freshly rooted so I don't want to transplant until next spring.

It might straighten a little then. It's probably still established its roots, if it wilts when sun is directly on it.

Once it gets growing there will be no stopping it. They're quite easy plants to grow.

Since I've put the 2 Bumblebees in 3-4 hours of sun the leaves get dramatically bigger everyday.

Just when the whole plant leans it scares me. Perks right back up though so like you said it must still be establishing itself. That growing angle sets it up for the droop I guess.

Or just acclimatising. You could stake and tie the stem to straighten it if it really bothers you. Just be gentle and maybe allow to rest in shade for a day.

I just don't want it to collapse and snap itself. Come spring if it hasn't straightened out, I'll transplant it accordingly.

I just needed reassurance from someone with experience. Thank you again.

So I went ahead and made a bunch of cuttings today.

Im sure Ive stressed the mother, but with how vigorous it's been growing since moving it outdoors Im confident that it will readily put out some new growth.

I normally wouldn't cut it back so much but I wanted to correct the lean (Im not sure what caused it, wasn't planted shallow and began indoors with no wind).
Also just fed it for the first time a couple days ago with some organic 5-1-1, so hoping that gives it a little kick to bounce back.

I have a tree (about 7ft at the moment) and when I got the clone, I was told it was Rifat. My Rifat mostly has green veined leaves. Maybe some of the newer veins look a whitish green. I do not see any red vein leaves on the plant. I just see pink veins on the newest leaves and once they get larger, the veins turn green or white. I have noticed every now and then my Rifat will produce a leaf with a "horn" on it. What is that?

My bumblebee tree (about 4ft tall) is noticeably different in leaf structure and vein color. The leaves are BIG and have anywhere from a red to dark pink vein. The veins aren't as bright red as some strains I have seen. I enjoy chewing a leaf every now and then and laying in my hammock. It's a great way to relax. I really haven't experimented much with my Rifat leaves, maybe someone else can chime in.

I recently got some unrooted cuttings of Red Vein Thai. I am excited to see how the leaves look in comparison to the Bumble and Rifat. Can anyone post pictures of their RVT plant? I'm having trouble finding any good ones online.

Sounds like your plants were labeled backwards.

Rifat seems to keep a red vein and has much bigger leaves than Bumblebee. I've only seen one Bumblebee that had loads of red veined leaves. They usually stay green and go white ime.

This is my first year growing this plant but I've seen some specimens and have 3 varities going at the moment. The Rifat is definetly more noticeable than my Bbs and Malays. The Malays just look like a Bb plant is injecting steriods in the foliage.

That horned-leaf is stunning man :borat:

With all the different genetics and growing conditions topped with my lack of experience I can't id the two for sure. I was just stating my observations based off my clones, plants I've seen in person, and the pics on here and elsewhere.

I will say your first Rifat picture looks looks more like my Bb clones foliage.

Thank you! I love them so much.. I am just going to have to figure out where I'm going to put them for the winter. AND gonna have to prune :badtrip: and harvest some more leaves. Last year when they were in 5 gallon pots I had to deal with some spider mites. I kept a close eye on them, caught it early...  mostly just manually squished them with my fingers & sprayed them with blasts of water from my spray bottle. I am hoping I don't deal with that again.

I am about to take 2g of powdered leaves I have collected this summer from my plants. Some fell off naturally and some I picked. They are all mixed together. I'll post my results soon! The smell inside the jar of the freshly powdered leaves is like a bitter banana smell.. smells really fresh!  :kratomtee:

:edit: With 2 grams I didn't expect to feel much since most of the leaves were collected here and there, but I am surprised. I will admit that it's not as potent as commercial Kratom (yet) but I did feel it taking effect. I feel :  Sedation (5.2) Motivation (4.5) and Mood (5.0) on a 1-10 scale. The effects are there, just not that strong. Just a week ago I harvested about 25 leaves from my Rifat. I am drying those now so I'm excited to see what potency my 2 year old tree has. I'll do another one of these samples later with those leaves... maybe 5g to see the differential.
