Liberty cap hunt // Iceland
    #25466869 - 09/17/18 10:43 AM (5 years, 6 months ago)

Greetings from Iceland

I haven't picked magic shrooms before, they are rather widespread around the country, my only problem is uncertainty with correct identification, especially since Protostropharia semiglobata and Panaeolus sp,. are also widespread in the same areas.

I will post a few photos here, with your help to identify I'm sure I will get a good hang of this quickly.

These are some I have encountered today, rather dark in color though.

No. 1 / really not sure, cap looks too rounded.

No. 1 / Gills

No. 2 / These ones looks more like it (cap shape)

I will post more pics later, going out again to scout some more.

Panaeolus papilionaceus and Panaeolus acuminatus. You're in the right habitat, though.

Welcome to the Shroomery. :toast:

Nope, sorry. Still only inactive Panaeolus species.

Damn it. What distinctive trait should I be looking for?

More of a nipple? General shape of cap?

There you go. A bit dried out, but yes, Psilocybe semilanceata.

Thank you for your patience and identification, what I've read is true, when you finally find them you just know.

There are some though in the same area that me and my mate weren't so sure of.

It's the nipple that is confusing us and seeing that cap shape and color can vary a bit.

Libs or no?

All of these

Particularily the one on the far left.

To me, it was almost something that was innate. And all I had to go on was some really low res grainy scans off the internet (I mean the internet in 1998, when I first looked).

All those are libs, in both pictures.
