the smell
    #2545939 - 04/10/04 05:38 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

I spawned some straw with colonized birdseed few days ago ... Now the mycelium has started to grow real nice on all sides , but i noticed some wierd smell in there ... I was expecting some shroomy smell ( like my WBS smelled ) , but it was more like sweet smell . I see no contamination or anything ...

I made before a mini terrarium tek and it smelled like that but i got positive results ... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...ev=#Post2360389

I used ganjas tek - http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...part=1&vc=1

What do you think about this ???

I oftern get a slight sweet smell on pasturised
straw, it's only when it becomes more acrid that
you need to worry ime.
Let it carry on for now, and if it still seems to be
colonising ok, and the smell doesnt increase, but
instead decrease, and become more shroomy, then all is well.

yes, I think its due to bacteria being involved in pasturisation, so
some sweet smell is normal.
