Ok, strange days, but I won't get into explaining everything.

Anyway, I think I just found some mopielas in my yard, at the edge of the grass(beside a plank which borders the terrace), weird because all 3 of them are growing in this same position,  They've got the basic morel shape.  like this... http://www.minnesotamushrooms.org/images/fungi/morel-md.jpg
But I can't be too sure because, the texture is rather different compared to the normal morel pics. There are no holes in these "morels". 


This one is about 8 cm long
THere is a very slight mushroom scent. When broken, an appearent dislodged ring was found.
The head of the mushroom is a houses the stem, which is separate  only attached at the  very top.

calm down shroomerites, no need to condemn the less educated :P, and at the moment very dazed and confused.

During the writing of the thread, yea, I soon realised there is no important relation, except of the shape which apparently stayed in my mind, but I decided I'll leave the "morel?", cos i couldnt be fuxed.!@ ok ?

Gyromitra esculenta (false morel) can make you sick or die if not well cooked or eaten in large numbers.

You might try check out this page.

Based on your description I would guess you have found one of the false morels from the genus Verpa. Some of them (particularly Verpa bohemica) resemble true morels closely enough that they are frequently misidentified as morels. Another possibility is Gyromitra. None of the false morels should be eaten.

One good test to distinguish false morels from true morels is to cut them in half vertically. True morels are hollow. False morels are solid inside, or the inside is chambered, or filled with pith. True morels (with one exception) have the cap attached to the stem at the bottom edge of the cap. And true morels will always have the pits in the cap, not just wrinkles and folds.

If you can post a photo of your find it would help a lot.
