Another cold blooded murder

Quote:
After getting stuck on a dirt road in Clear Creek County in June, Christian Glass called 911 for help.
Instead, the 22-year-old was killed while locked inside his own car after a long, tense, confusing and chaotic confrontation played out between him and Clear Creek deputies and a handful of other agencies. Video footage was released by his family’s lawyers.

Sometimes I wonder, in situations like this where race isn’t a motivating factor, why cops would just murder a young white boy. Is it just psycho cops individually taking advantage of their position and enjoying killing people? Or have they all convinced themselves that every civilian is an enemy and potential gun wielder? Obviously it’s a bit of both but stories like that one are so confusing and tragic.

When I was in jail, there was a guy in my cell who had a long history of assault charges. We were talking about police one day, and he said, "That's why people become cops. They want to shoot somebody." To a normal person, that sounds utterly insane, but to him it was just a matter-of-fact, "obvious" reality. Unfortunately, I don't think he is alone in his desire to hurt people, and I think he may very well be correct in his assumption.
Remember when those police shot that homeless man, for illegal "camping", and the cop said he was going to shoot the guy before they even got there? I think there are a lot of cops with bad intentions. When I get pulled over, I never know what to expect. Here in Michigan, police are much more aggressive than in Washington state. I've probably had my vehicle searched 40-50% of the times I've been stopped here, whereas in WA I wasn't searched one time ever. I've had every case I've ever been charged with thrown out due to illegal searches.

Yeah, it's both. Cops are increasingly getting that us vs them mentality of soldiers at war, and lashing back at the perceived enemy seems like a rational response. Then there's the blue wall, and the non-psycho ones continue to cover for them. It would be difficult to stay on the job if they didn't cover for them.

This is a perfect example of why cops don't need guns. From the beginning, this was a man in crisis out on a deserted road by himself. Over the course of an hour, more and more people with guns show up. Each one of them raises the stakes. Each one escalates the situation. The dude gets more scared. The cops get more scared.
This was an adult version of a slumber party with people getting themselves worked up telling ghost stories. Only difference is this one ended with them shooting the made up boogyman.
Such a sad, fucked up story.

Yeah... I've been watching videos of the parents right now. This has to be one of the saddest instances of police homicide I've ever seen.

With today's tech, would it be better for drones/cameras/etc and the like to perform perfunctory law enforcement duties? This guy need a jump start or tow truck, or medical attention.
Speeding? Camera got ya. You get a ticket in the mail. What you don't get is an armed undertrained person approaching your vehicle. Less chance of search, less chance of a confrontation.
Highway chase? Ghetto Bird with drones, no way homeboy is getting away. Less chance of pit maneuvers and decreased risk for the civilians on the road. When he runs outta gas, or is done, apprehension could be done then.
The above are just mundane examples as I am sure other things could be utilized. No one wants Big Brother watching them, but on some level, tech could be used to diminish harder consequences. Unfortunately no way, the Fraternal Order of Poe Poes will ever allow a disarmament.
Another huge piece is education. For some reason, people think cops prevent crime. They don't, as in the vast majority of cases they merely respond to it. The school shooting in Texas demonstrates, that even the response can be fucked up and in many times, it is.

All it would have taken was one level-headed supervisor to order all the police except one to put their firearms away. Let one well-trained officer be armed just in case dude got crazy. Easy situation. Pointless waste of human life.
The most offensive part of the video is the way that everyone you see is a cop. Why aren't paramedics the ones talking to this guy? So fucking stupid. The irony that this guy, at the very beginning, says that he's afraid because he's in a dangerous place and might get killed. An hour later, the cops make his delusion a reality.

They really need to let mental health professionals get involved in these situations.

Yeah... Police need mental health evaluations. I don't think a fucking psychiatrist on-scene is necessary to navigate through this incredibly uncomplicated situation. As soon as the kid held up a knife with a 2" blade, the police drew their guns, as if that was some sort of green light to murder him. They were gnawing at the bit.
You're right though, I guess. There should be someone who isn't a cop around to act as the voice of reason. The crazy thing is, in spite of all of their "training", I think your average citizen could have handled this shit better than the police.

Video made it clear he was either on the come up of something strong or a psychotic break that got worse and worse over the course of an hour.
Definitely wasnt handled well at all especially how quick they were to draw their weapons. I mean he called them and even told them there was a knife in the car during the 911 call. They escalated the situation from the very beginning.
Honestly it looked to me like he dropped some acid or something then tried to drive home and the trip got more and more intense after the accident and the hour leading up to his death. If you watch the whole video he goes from talking and being slightly erratic to not being able to talk, barely reacting when a bright light is shined in his eyes, and nodding as his only form of communication.
His irrational fear became a reality. He continually told them he was scared of dying and just wanted one eye witness around before he got out. They told multiple on lookers to leave and brought in more cops with drawn guns.
I was kinda disgusted when they tried bribeing him with cigs and soda to open the window so they could drag him out. Fuckin sick.
