That's how it should be.  An officer should place his own life as secondary when he's on duty.

Even if you think that's how it should be, do you have the law on your side?

did he stutter?

Me or Enlil? He specifically said a person other than the police officer. It's ok for someone physically threaten a cop's life, and they can't use deadly force?

I know this doesn't apply directly to the Floyd case, but it does to at least a few publicized police shooting events after that. Seems like quite the double standard. Cop or not when you threaten someone's life or even shoot at them...they can't defend or protect themselves with deadly force?

Isn't the old suicide by cop saying implying that if you point a weapon or shoot at a cop, bullets are coming your way? I thought that was well understood, hence the saying...

No.

I think it's safe to assume by his defending cops murdering george floyd, that this is the same kind of reasoning he would apply to anybody being drunk and belligerent. Or maybe only cops are aloud to execute drunk and belligerent people in his mind. I can only make evidence based assumptions...

I don't recall Vahn ever saying he was ok with Floyd's murder (prove me wrong), only the make believers here are saying that.

He's saying there's more to this story than originally reported.

Yes there is more to the story. And none of it justifies the force used or George's death. Vauhn is using a type of "look at what shes wearing, she was asking for it" style of argument. And I'm not falling for it. George floyd was guilty until proven innocent and his day in court will never be had.

Is an officer allowed to use lethal force if threatened with death, per hummingbird's question.

In some places. In some places probably not. Either way, normal citizens generally have a duty to retreat if possible. Cops should have that duty as well.

The idea that cops should have special privileges is antithetical to a free society.

Obviously.  Now you're just running from the question, which was "Is an officer allowed to use lethal force if threatened with death?

Self defense is a "special privilege"?

I answered the question.

The right to use lethal force without a duty to retreat if possible is a special privilege,  yes

Wouldn't that duty to retreat go agianst their duty to fight crime?

Ok then, back to my original question: "Even if you think that's how it should be, do you have the law on your side?

The answer that you dodged appears to be "no".

I was just asking if your "values, morals, and convictions" aligns with current law.  The answer appears to be no, as police in America are allowed to kill if they feel their life is being threatened.

I'm not against your suggestion of disarming the police, but that wasn't the original question.
