FARTS
I think that there is a fair and responsible solution to:
- Wage stagnation in the U.S
- Labor exploitation in the 3rd world
- Environmental degradation worldwide
.
My proposal is a law requiring any company selling goods in the U.S. to comply with U.S. environmental and labor laws, regardless of where their product is manufactured.
Feel free to tell me why you do or don't think this is a good idea, but I really want this thread to be about how to flesh this idea out into a full fledged piece of legislation.

Great idea.
We shouldn't lower our standards - others should raise theirs.
-------------------- I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them. I also attack my side if I think they're wrong. People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Step 1
Public financing of elections.
Until that happens, big money is going to continue to buy politicians and things will continue to get worse.

How would you enforce that? Do we have regulators installed in every country? That sounds like a beurocratic nightmare that would spur all kinds of corruption; new businesses have an even higher barrier of entry while established ones own the regulators and continue not following the laws. Does it apply to everyone we do business with? If not then why not just "sell" the company to a surrogate owner within the country and purchase the goods from them, effectively not changing a thing?

Yes, U.S. regulators installed at every factory. Make them pay for inspections. Yes, it would apply to anyone selling goods within the boundaries of the U.S. or it's territories. As for barriers to entry, tough titty, i say. It's no more of a barrier than any company in the U.S. has to overcome.

I'll start: Whereas it is recognized that greed and exploitation are not confined by borders, and it is recognized that labor interests worldwide cannot avoid exploitation without fair and uniform minimum standards for labor and environmental regulations, we propose that United States law provides a suitable baseline standard.

Some companies have been bullied into safer factories via American boycotting.
But that is fickle and perilous.
Hell, it seems like most leftists don't even care about what's happening overseas -- as long America is clean and regulated.
Leftists don't seem to care about the Muslim invasion, factory pollution overseas, or American companies practicing slave labor overseas.
In the name of equality, let the Muslims do what they will in Europe. In the name of Global warming, regulate our country and pollute the poor countries.

What are you basing that on? To me this reads like a blind hatred for leftists that only exists as a charicacure in your head. Is there at least an anecdote you can cite where someone said that or anything?

I wouldn't call Obama regulators "lefties". Democrats, sure, but they're centrists at best. You don't hear leftists voters supporting anything like that.

im not sure how we would insure that all products met us standards of production but otherwise i would think it would be fair to suggest that. and would increase us manufacturing jobs but also raise prices a bunch.

That said, in the right context, he was easy to learn from. Because he was a total fuckup. Not sure if he's still on the Growery or not?

He's probably still on stormfront. I don't remember his handle there but I've posted it here before. There was funny drama there when he was so over the top arguing that it's ok to hit women or something that the mods there basically silenced him because they thought he might be a commie plant sent to make them look bad

Yeah I know, it was hilarious. I was awake at like three in the morning and saw him post a burning cross in his back yard. Someone said he was just fun because it was easy to dunk on him. It really was.

LoL, glad I can have a laugh over it nowadays. Some jackasses did the same thing, but on my great grandfather's property somewhere in upstate NY. That was back when being incredibly stupid & willfully ignorant - whilst being retardedly proud of it, too - was still considered by some folks to be 'kewl' or something, who dafuq knows?

I do still think it's a good idea, though. Japan makes Chinese manufacturers keep a Japanese inspector on-site. It's not much different.

It's a fantastic idea... I think we should penalize companies that use slave labor conditions to manufacture products too.. or criminalize them.
Murder them, really.
