A good interview that tells the truth. The corporate tax cuts haven't done anything for US workers. In fact, the cuts have made things even worse in many cases. Trump is a economic failure for the US worker.

What policies do you propose will be good for U.S. workers, especially for blue collar and middle income earners?

So this plant in lordstown laid off 2,700 people due to slowing sales for the cruze. 3 shifts cut down to 1 shift. Why? Sales are down 26% for the cruze year over year. Gas is inexpensive and when its cheap people buy more SUV’s. We just found huge reserves in texas over 100 billion barrels. Car manufacturers have smaller margins on small cars than suvs and trucks. Makes sense.
Is trump doing anything? Good question. Well he did renegotiate a mexico trade agreement that increased the percentage of manufacturing done in the states. He also mandated a minimum wage for mexican car manufacturing plant workers at $16. This is a disencentive to produce in mexico. Old plants in mexico will be taxed 2.5% import duties and newly built mexican plants will be taxed 25%. Again all the more reason to build in america with Americans. If 75% of the car is made in the US components come in duty free. It previously was at 62.5%
GM stocks increased by 4.8 percent 8.27.18. Ford stock increased by 3.2% the largest increase since FEBRUARY.

I don’t believe I asked you any questions.
Having been in the Lordstown plant myself, your example is whatever.

Across the board tariffs on ALL products coming into the US, that rate of tariff would be contingent upon the trade deficit numbers. If it takes a 35% rate of economic tariffs to get a balance of trade, so be it.
Would that policy destroy profit margins and kill stock evaluations on Wall Street? Yep, so be it.

Is that going to change any behavior? Not likely, it's nothing but window dressing.
The proof will be the trade deficit trade numbers with Mexico, it's not going to make any difference.
As far as the stocks, IF real trade deal changes were to take place- those stocks would be getting killed. Obviously, that's NOT happening.

i think that's close but not quite fact.
iirc, the agreement in principle of the renegotiation of NAFTA stipulates that ~45% of a car's components be made by people making at least 16$ per hour equivalent.
not quite a mandated minimum wage for plant workers in mexico.

Is trump responsible for low gas, high rate of suv purchases and gm fAiling to make a successful cruz car? To me he moved the needle for american manufacturers to stay competitive. Please enlighten me otherwise.

Yeah, to manufacture in non-US countries.
There's no way in the world Trump is going to be able to screw companies to benefit US workers.
Workers don't get that type of major change by driving to the voting booth.

I think it has done some good for workers. This is a cherry picked video. There will be videos in the opposite direction as well.
Tax cuts work beyond the worker as well. With higher regulations, which businesses have to abide by, lower taxes give the business a better chance of surviving.
Imagine other countries like Bangladesh. The Low regulations make business easier.
Part of the point is to bring money to our shores and revitalize America.
We will never compete with other countries if we want high regulations and high taxes.

Bangladesh isn't successful because of an American factory. The American company is successful and Bangladesh gets the jobs.

You said low regulations make business easier. Are you suggesting the US should adopt a low regulation business environment like Bangladesh? We should get rid of building codes for factories. I mean it’s pretty expensive making sure factories don’t crumble. Maybe stupid regulations like having fire exits and sprinkler systems. It’s really a pain in the ass to make sure workers aren’t exposed to toxic chemicals. We should get rid of OSHA. And fuck if kids want to work why not, right?
You think we have excessive regulation, but I guarantee you nearly every regulation exists because something bad happened at one time and somebody said “we can’t let this happen again.” Regulations exist because business will always try to cut corners. Somebody has to make sure they don’t.

You have a good point.
I don't know the answer. I feel like there may be a middle ground and, like qmain said, tariffs to ensure equal trade.

Competing with countries without higher regulations, wherein many American factories operate. Tariffs, lower regs, lower taxes?

You’re obsessed with regulations. I want to live in a country where businesses can’t easily get away with abusing labor; ruining the air, streams and rivers; and ripping off their customers.
I really don’t get conservative ideology.

The problem I have with your statement is the extreme position you portray. There is a middle ground, wouldn't you agree?
