Ok I need help. I bought a 552 cfm blower so I can build a flow hood but It is just the motor and blower. I don't know what I need to get it working but the motor specifications are 12vdc,9.4 amps, and 60hz. From what I have read so far is that I need much more amps than what it specifies? Any help is VERY apreciared...i paid 100$ also if you could link me to the appropriate power supply or converter or what not, I would be very greatful.

I am training in HVAC and familiar with blowers. If you are going to run this 9.4 amp blower you should prob have a 15amp breaker , I think that would fit code I'm no electrician and depends where you are. Also, it sounds like you are not giving the input/power supply.
It may run 240, 120 or both. If 240 you need a step-down transformer to 120v or a 240v power supply..
My misread

If you plug a 12vdc blower motor into a 120vac outlet, be prepared for some excitement as it burns up.
You need to do one of two things. 1. Return it for a 120vac blower motor. 2. Buy a power supply that puts out 12vdc and more amps than what's written on the motor tag. perhaps 12 - 15 amps.
Do not try to run that blower motor on 120vac. Do not. Do. Not.

if your going to use it as is your going to have to buy a converter. That being said if you do get a converter, a 15amp breaker is all you need if your are only going to be running the flowhood on that circuit.

12vdc only specifies what the motor turns the power supply voltage into not the input it's the output
Doesn't compute. More training needed?

I know that you might have solved the problem. I just joined the forum and would to contribute my opinion.
I am not so familiar with electrical repairs. I prefer to call electricians who can troubleshoot the problem. The residential electrical repair service NJ provides great services and they are very quick in their work. Solving problems by hiring professionals is a good way to solve the issues efficiently.

So your contribution to a DIY forum is to hire a professional. Do you not know what DIY means?
