Polypore in pine. Please help with Id
    #25426392 - 08/31/18 04:32 PM (2 years, 8 months ago)

Hi there! This is my first post here in the Shroomery, but I've been here for more than a year now reading and learning. Very grateful for everyone writing here!

I'd like to ask if someone can help me with the identification of this big Polypore growing at the base of a pine log close to the coast in the south of Spain. It's summer now here, but seems it's been there for a while. I've recently cloned it and would like yo know exactly the specie to make some extracts from. I doubt it could be Meripilus Giganteus or Laetiporus Sulphureus. Here are the photos, and thanks in advance.

Meripilus giganteus is my candidate.

Also my first choice too. Thanks for your quickly response. I've read that only the young ones are edible (the olders are said to provoque intestinal problems, but I can't find trusted info about this fact). Do you know if would be safe to eat the mycelium instead? It has spread nicely on cardboard and agar and I'll be growing it sooner in grain.

Thanks again. I'll post it in the gourmet forum to see if someone knows something
