Shit man, I'm kinda surprised you don't have a TC tag yet tbh. Always solid advice and definitely not afraid to tell it how it is. I've always drooled over the agar art in your sig btw, makes me want to drop it in some liquid nitrogen and save it forever!

Hell, tbh, I figured after 2 years of membership I'd be a lot more knowledgeable than I am. Got dudes with far less experience than me pushin out sexy Af canopies and I still have yet to successfully fruit a mono (in my defense, I've been attempting to shame Norwegian truffle farmers for the past year lol)

You'll see all kinds of weird shit in this hobby ice. Imho mushrooms are more like people than any other living thing, we breathe oxygen, like certain foods, and if our expectations aren't met on a daily a good majority of us are total bitches lmao

sorry. this is a repost. ya'll were caught up in that other convo.

I leave all my monos next to a window. They've done fine and I wanna say the sunlight helps with humidity

i was doing the same thing with (12) (1) pint jars. sunlight, temps hovered 86 - 75F day night cycle. and then a fucking heat wave stalled all those mother fuckers. over 90F. Got about 3 more weeks until they should be ready to crack open for a grow. It's looking like i might have to separate (2) jars and attempt a shoe box grow with'em. they are still looking white. not bright white, but white. gonna give them a good sniff when i crack them. anything shady gets set aside. and i sure as hell ain't gonna sniff anything that's any color other than white! got about 12 more in a cabinet where the temps are less likely to have high spikes. here are some photos. fucked, or maybe not, or definitely not.

SUS

the ones labled sus [bottom photo] are the 2 i'm concerned about, but i've been told they are all bacterial. we'll see what i get when i go for the grow. 3 more weeks! lighting is kinda shit in thes photos. (2) of the photos had flash.

same here. i shall see. currently got a jar i suspected all shook up. actually i'll take a look now. how long is too long to wait for jars? i'm doing a month and a week. anything past that i'm considering too long of a wait. the shook jar seems to be recovering. it may be ready to include with my grow if it continues to recover. what are the telltale signs after a shake? non recovery?

I got that picture somewhere online lmao.
It takes a lot more than just knowing what You're talking about to get a tag. And i dont even have that handled.

It takes a lot of trial and error with proof of success and recovering from failure.

Im sure it takes a lot more than 2 dozen successful shoeboxes to get a tag. Ive also yet to grow a mono worth anything

I have a quick question. I have a monotub(sterlite 4 latch with the top flipped upside down)that's just gone into fruiting state and was wondering if it would be a bad idea to put my tub outside? I'm in an area that's close to sea level and its averaging around 67° and nice light winds low humidity. Would I be more susceptible to bacteria doing this or would outside fae be less contaminated than a normal househould?

The air is dirtier but due to increased oxygen it will be less likely to contam. How low does it get at night? Id be worried about it getting too cold

Your wait time is very dependant on inoc method. A>G, LI>G, LC>G, G2G? Most of them look ok (useable) but definitely looks bacterial (see how the grains are smashed up against the glass, and there is a large amount of moisture present in some) the only time imle that jars should ever look like that is with sclerotia producing species (in the eyes of a cube grow, they are a total nightmare). Grains should recover in 24-48 hr after a shake. Keep an eye out for wet spots, cubicle growth, and areas that are overly stubborn to colonize.

Totally thought I posted the above...so I apologize in advance if I did

Not tryin to bash myco (love you my dude, really hope you know that), but based off my viewing of his posts his TC is based on his knowledge of sclerotia species and I feel like there should be a TC tag indicating species of speciality. It's like comparing a heart surgeon to a brain surgeon. Just cause they are experts in 1 area cult doesn't mean they are in another

Definitely not tryin to say myco didn't earn his badge. He definitely showed his ability to cultivate and give more than ample advice, not to mention his A+ grade attitude towards noobs which is something that is all too rare some days on here, I'm just sayin I personally haven't seen anything outside the sclerotia thread indicating anything other than his extensive knowledge on sclerotia species and I feel that our TC's should be a little more recognized for their area of expertise.

Ha, the merits of my tag could be and likely have been debated.  I've often wondered at the metrics behind one getting a tag and curious as to why I got mine so early, considering there are so many kick-ass cultivators in the cult.  That said, I can grow, really! (whiny inflection)  I just don't grow a shit ton of cubes.  I like small projects, trying new things and figuring out how to get things to grow well as opposed to cranking out tubs of shit I'd just compost or toss.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, tryptkaloids!

i think this is a major part of it. Quality and efficiency over quantity. Furthermore, im sure its easier to get a tag growing multiple species than it would be with just cubes

I would but by the time those cakes colonize I should have some grain ready to spawn to bulk. My PESA culture should be good to go after the next transfer, hell I'm still waitin on this last transfer to grow out it might be good already but I'm gonna take 1 more to be safe. Plus I don't have room for my sgfc anymore, and every time I spawned cakes to bulk I greened out.

Like I said myco, not sayin you didn't earn it cause from those pics you clearly did (and now I'm hungry for some sauteed oysters on a nice thick juicy steak lol), just that there should be a little more to the TC tag than a broad generalization.
