Just want to confirm if these are oysters.

I grew oysters a couple of times, and hunted many times, but never came across any thos size. I cant give too much information about them because I saw them yesterday, and left them alone, but thinking about going back to get them today.
It's not growing on a tree, but it's in the woods along a hiking path that has some seriously old trees and I'm assuming they could be growing from a tree root. From what I can tell of the shape, it matches, and the gills seem to as well, even the off-whitish/grayish color of spores they have dropped so far. The season is questionable, but the rain and humidity have been very goodfor growth.

Looks good so far, let's see the gills. If you do go back to collect them, carefully dig some up to be sure that they are in fact growing from wood.

Thanks for the reply. There's actually a surprisingly good photo of the gills in that middle pic when you zoom in. They look right to me, I was just surprised at the time of year, size, and being on the ground

I'll be sure to snap some better pics before I eat them. Hopefully they taste decent. They're matured, but doesnt look like they've been there for a super long time and arent breaking down yet. Might have to do some good rinsing to get all those spores off though.

Yes, I can see a portion of the gills, but it is important too look at the whole thing, not just a section.

Here's a couple better pics. I guess they are a little bit more mature than I had thought. So I tried getting a side view showing the growth structure Also. I just snapped a couple photos of these and case the ones that I selected get damaged in my bag while hiking out of the woods. But I think it'll still be good enough to confirm

Looks like Lactarius, kind of looks latex on the damaged gills. Don’t think these are oysters.

I agree with cass_cm, it is lactarius.

Thanks for the reply. I'm no expert by any means, but I would highly disagree with that possible I.D. (no offense). But the cluster, the look, the area, spores, and gills make me second guess lactarius. Hopefully you're not right so my trip wasnt for nothing and I get to eat them lol

So, reading up on them some more, I think that lactarius piperatus could actually be possible. But still confused as to the cluster.

Looks like those tend to grow by themselves rather than a cluster like the ones in my photo, and the cap seems to be more symmetrical and even convex. The ones I photo'd grew together as a clump, and the stem is offset from the center. This was still the case for the smaller ones down by the bottom of the cluster. Oval/clam shaped with the stem more towards the edge.

I guess as they mature the depression becomes even more exaggerated as the convex shape goes

How big is the cap? In inches or centimeters.

That is a milky fluid on the gills, correct? They also could be a lactifluus or something similar if it is exuding a latex like substance. There a few species of milk caps.

Sorry for the late reply. I think what you're seeing is it still being wet from me spraying it down with my sink hose right before the photo was taken. Dinner was already cooking and I wanted to give them a good rinse just in case my post verified it or not. I ended up putting them in a brown paper bag in my fridge hoping that there was more activity on here. I can photo them now that they arent soaking wet. But I didn't see any sort of "secretions" or latexy/waxy, or any other type of questionable substance on them. They dont have any questionable smell to them either, just that of your typical mushroom...if that makes sense.
