AC Problems
    #25400676 - 08/20/18 01:02 PM (5 years, 5 months ago)

Shroomery, geez. Here’s the story. My ac kept turning off because the excess condensation was floating the safety switch. I took the shop vac back to pipe that was clogging and then ran a snake through the pipe and most of it drained. Then I threw a little bleach down there.

I woke up this morning and checked my excess condensation reservoir and there was a little more in there but no where near enough to float the safety switch. Is it normal to have a little condensation in the pipe?

I’m worried I am going to come home and have water soaking my floor, dripping down the stares and ruining the base boards and sheet rock. The water backs up the most during the day.

It's normal to have condensation while it is running.

Vinegar cleans the lines pretty good.

Is this a window unit or part of your forced air system?

Forced air system. I’m going to drop some vinegar when I get home. Does apple cider vinegar work?

I've only used regular vinegar but I don't see why apple cider vinegar wouldn't work.

Also pull the float up to make sure the condensate pump is working properly.
The pump should turn on when the float is raised up.

As long as the lines aren't clogged.

if its an attic unit then there shouldn't be a pump.  As long as the condensate drain trap is configured properly the system should drain.  does it dump into a sewer vent or out in the yard?
