I am very interested in the subject, but could you offer some ideas or arguments for discussion? Simply posting a link does not meet the minimum requirement for this subforum. Thanks.

What is this post? An ad for a book?

I like Tim Leary. I really do.
The man was very interesting, and I like to believe he was genuine and sincere.
What I keep getting from him is some 'acidfied' version of Buddhism that he was realizing.
He re-wrote "The Great Liberation Through Hearing In The Bardo" to make it describe a heavy psychedelic trip rather than death.
Here he is saying the brain is God, which is analogous to the Buddhist concept of consciousness itself I think, after all, to 'realize the true nature of mind' is to be enlightened.

I find it much appealing if the title is "The brain is a connection to God"

Michelangelo had the notion that the brain was God in his Sistine Chapel mural. Note the shape of the nimbus that God is in with his Heavenly Host. It is the profile of a human brain with God's arm reaching out through the pre-frontal cortex. Leary may have appropriated the notion and then developed his own Neo-materialism wherein he frequently reduced consciousness to neurocellular processes.

I love this painting specially the establised finger connections.
Aswell as this verses which are very mystical -Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
- Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Weeelllllll, thanks to the normalization and heavy use of marijuana. God will never reach through that undeveloped PFC.
Challenge me on that statement, stoners. Please.

It seems I had a senior moment and forgot to include the mural in my post. Your illustrations are much more clear.

I read that book back when I was in college and found it disappointing. A bunch of ideas not very fleshed out, nor supported by any real evidence or research. It reads like it was written by an acidhead. Even Leary later admitted it wasn't very good.

And the people around him seem like sub-personas that is so cool.
Leary may have been a reductionist but there is some seriously useful material in that book but people don't care and would rather talk shit than put in any actual wor.k

Just the basic meta-programming stuff. Leary and RAW are kind of dated at this point.

You were a part of those fingers that belongs to the oldman, while the non seniors but getting close are a part of that fingers of the mortal man.
Those images wont reach my mind without your notion's oldmarkus. no one still can beat senior's wisdoms in giving flashbacks and ideas to the youths

the whole earth catalog - was later replaced by the world wide web. adding height or meaning to his historical arc makes little sense to me.
