Shiit man. I dont even have that many jars. And you use all of those for one species. Whoa!

I plan to G2G each pint into 10qt ea. I need more jars.

That’s quite a workload there. You have a flowhood? If you do I’d suggest spawn bags. I like to use a pint jar for each spawn bag but I could do 2 bags with each jar if I wanted to.

Hey Quirk, nice set up man.. What kind of filter set up so you have on your lids? They look cool and I've been considering switching out of polyfil eventually even though it has treated me well.

Looks like he has SFD pieces glued on with silicone. That’s the same way I do it. Way easier than poly in metal lids. Those plastic lids are dirt cheap at walmart.

Well I have 50XL bags bit no flow hood. I could try to do bags in my SAB but so far has been hit and miss, but I think the spawn was contaminated sneaky-like before the final G2G. My filters are SFD cut to size and sealed with Red RTV Silicone. They can be glued and loaded right into the PC so for new ones I fill em, drill a hole, glue the filter on, then wrap em in foil, and PC em like 2-3hrs for jars. They are dishwasher safe so I can unload jars and wash the whole lot.

I have waited much more than enough. Spores usually germ in 3 days, this has been going on for like 2 weeks or so. Maybe the lactic acid from fermentation prevents spore germination.

An update from yesterday on my outside thing going on. Just more mycelium growth. We got some rain last night I was concerned on it mudding, but apparently it was fine. Also a picture of the monotub I used my grain bags on, 2 days in. Interested to see how the outside turns out haha

What makes you think that? I'm legit curious. Longest I've EVER seen was 2 weeks.

I've seen stubborn spores take longer. 6 weeks is indeed my longest as well, was with the first print I ever bought, Peru variety, but only after having it  in my possession for about 2 years. After that I made some fresh prints of that variety for future use.

Yeah 3 days is fast imo for germination.  I’ve had MS > agar take a week or more, regularly.

Damn... still, my experience is that it either germinated in 3-4 days or never. Only exception was P. serbica - took 2 weeks. Even though the spores were the freshest possible.

My experience has been almost always I see germination enough to transfer from in 3 days, 4 sometimes. RW germinated in 2 days for me.

I have had 3 weeks for zap spores from 2013 and 10-20 days for older cube spores.

After 3 days I check and get ready to transfer

Yes they can. It helps to make softer agar plates, which I didn't know at the time. I don't usually make plates softer though. I have some other cube spores that didn't even take after 6 weeks, or 12, or 18, or ever. I plan to force hydrate them somewhere in the future.

Serbica took off mad fast with me IIRC

Strange stuff guys, thanks for the input.

But the real question is, if it takes so long, how will you clean it if molds take over in no time?

You take spores off literally as little an area you can, like needlepoint area, then you transfer that in a strike on a plate.

If mold or bacteria set in soon, I sometimes cut it out. You have to watch it in the light real good to make sure you have everything, and it only works if it's just one or two points in the streak. If it's all around you have to choose a different print point to streak from. The best places are not right in the center, but also not at the edges. Nicely in between gives the best results. And some prints are just fucked beyond any salvaging if you ask me. So it's basically a combination of using smart technique and receiving a decently made print.

Actually fucked beyond all salvaging is not per se correct, it could still be tried to hydrate a sporeprint with tetracycline water for 4-5 days and then dilute that down a whole lot to use only 1 drop of the dilute suspension on either agar or a BRF puck, so that you  can have the mycelium outrun the possible bacteria and/or dilute the contams so much that the present mold/bacteria spores are just so outnumbered by the mushroom spores, and that one drop is unlikely not contain any viable bacteria or mold. IIRC, I've read spores can be frozen and thawed to unclump with high efficiency. If 1 gram of agar/liter (of distilled water) is added to the spore water (not the water with tetracycline, the water you add that to to dilute it) they will stay in suspension a lot better instead of aggregating at  the bottom of your syringe.

First grow, purple mystic, a2g, 7qt, one brick. 112g dry (I had some tea from the first fruits before I dried everything).
Thanks for all the help folks.
