A digital camera that you can mount onto a telescope, used without any sort of night-vision capability.

To reiterate, a nightvision camera is exactly the opposite of what Logical Chaos needs.

Nightvision goggles don't let you see dim objects. If you're having trouble seeing something with your telescope then you won't do any better by stepping down the aperture and looking at a signal that's so fucked up with noise that starlight basically becomes an impenetrable layer of glare.

Not with an $85 spygear toy or without a telescope. And also not without degrading the image. The amount of light that the sensor receives will always be set by aperture. You can transduce that image to an electrical signal and then amplify it (again, at the cost of the quality of the signal) but you can't make an object appear better defined than it would have been without any night vision gear. That's not how night vision works.
