Growing on Logs
    #2540024 - 04/08/04 06:04 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Hi

I posted this message a couple of days ago in regula Cultivation and it got ignored, so I'm reposting it here in hopes of any response, even if it is just a No.

Companies such as Fungi Perfecti have plugs that you can use to inoculate logs and stumps with your favorite edible.

My question is, is it possible to make wood-loving psilocybe plugs that can be used in the same way? Or are psilocybe wood-lovers only able to be grown in ground patches with chips instead of a solid log?

Just wondering, as I have many available logs and stumps that are interested in taking up mycology on their own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not too much help, but those plugs do make good spawn for psilo wood lovers. Never actually used them in stumps, but seen them used to innoculate chips.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

Worth a try, eh?
Would be interesting to hear more about it.
What I'm wondering is, using plugs, would it be appropriate to put them into a relatively fresh log such as you would shiitake....or do they like older wood like you would see on a half-rotten log that's been on the ground for some time?

Those plugs can be bought in packs for woodwork. There made for furniture, you drill holes fill with glue then stick the 2 pieces of wood together with the peg 1/2 in each piece of wood. Im not sure where you can get them. My school has 2 big trays with bags of em and i dont even think we use them. They must be cheap.
