Looks like a good flush so far, excited to harvest in a few days. Some of these have doubled in size in the last 12-14 hours.
Nice! Get us some pics if you can.
Here is it covered with the plastic food cover. I stabbed 4-5 holes in the top for airflow.
Its a bad pic, but they looking good. Have furry feet, and I think thats an airflow thing? They were closed fairly tight while I was away, but with proper watering they are doing really well.
I have another 5 jars that are about 50%, so should be ready to go by the time one of these tubs is cleared.

MushroomNate, thanks for all the good advice and your input on my thread a couple weeks back. I'm trying your way of doing things the next few days. I'll let you know how it plays out.
I'm curious what you think of Bod's unmodified Shoeboxes. I read your posts there, wondering if you have any other thoughts?
Btw, your link to Bod's BucketTek is missing a colon. Should be 'https://' but it's 'https//'

'Fixed' Thanks for that. I approve of and use Bods tek. But,a shoebox is a shoebox. Add spawn(shredded brf cakes)>add sub (coir/verm)>colonize>fruit. I do this same procedure to pretty much anything I spawn to.
Bods bag type fruiting chambers work wonders for random size containers/tubs.
Shoeboxes are pretty simple tho,and a good way to get into bulk without needing qts of spawn.(I use 4 cakes per shoebox) Keep us posted, and ask questions if needed.

Hmmm so my first harvest ever got around 7.5g dry on the first flush, from a shoebox that had 3 half pint cakes in it. I feel like this is very low, but I didnt have the sub properly to field cap, got quite a few side pins, and didnt mist for a few days as I was away and they had sprung up during that time.
I will likely do better on this second shoebox, but since I am out of town again I will have to get my roomate to mist them, and thats likely to be a shitshow so dunno what will happen.
7.5g is better than 0, so happy either way, but honestly was hoping for a little more. If for some reason the first flush is bad, and they have the nutrients left, is there likely to be a larger second flush or will it still be pretty small?

Thank you for all of your insight, Nate! You inspired me to spawn my 2 Huautla cakes to bulk that were about a week behind my other 8 jars of GT. It will be an interesting side-by-side because I spawned my tub the same day my GT cakes went into their 24 hr bath.

From the above pic it's hard for me to say.(can't see with plasic) I suggest that you give a good mist, put the lid back on and wait for 2nd flush pins. I've seen decent 2nd flushers when the first wasn't too great.

Keep us updated on these. Got a plan on where you're gonna fruit the cakes?(sgfc?) I've been checking this alternative to the sgfc out.Really simple and effective.

Update on what I have going. My first Ape shoebox is giving its 2nd flush. I had hoped for a better pinset, but I'm liking these fat APE pins.
I give it a thumbs up!
The next set of APE shoeboxes are pinning up now. This 4 cake box is getting a blobby look to it.
And this 3 cake box had me concerned at first.. (4 days ago)
but it's starting to look better every day.

I gave serious thought to using Mateah’s humidity chamber. The only thing that’s keeping me from going that route is I didn’t drill all those damn holes for nothing! I’m putting the cakes in a classic, probably outdated SGFC. Partly because it was my original plan when I nocked the cakes up, and also because I’m relatively new to this, and I want the experience. I’m already headed toward bulk, so I think the SGFC will give me a more hands-on experience and a chance to get familiar with surface conditions.

I see more than 500 primordia in the 2:nd flush tub, wonder why they didn't grow out.
And nice tubs

Maybe a moisture issue. Never done APE before this, and it did shrink the hell outta the sub. From the beginning (first flush) I was fighting this sub shrinking.(bottom watering)Maybe my sub was a little too dry.

I have noticed with 1:1 they come in fast. But that does make sense about more moisture reserves with more coir.

Quick update:
The 2 Huautla cakes I spawned on 8/9 are looking great.
The 8 GT cakes are now doing their thing in the SGFC. They went in on 8/10.

Update on my APE: 2nd flush is ready for harvest, probably left them a bit long, but Gonna clone this one.
My next set of APE shoeboxes are coming in pretty good.
4 cakes spawned: This one is looking real blobby, but has pins across the surface.
3 cakes spawned: Looks like it may be some smalls this time.

@mushroomnate or someone else with experience :p One very noobi question, though I already read the first ~7 pages, and I didn't see anything any answer for it(will continue reading the rest).
Did you use spore syringe for inoculation of the BRF jars ? because in my read ups of last few days I read something like "PF TEK is not good for bulk, because your syringes might not be clean"(I can't fight that post right now), and that made me to give up my hopes on bulk grow and go back to preparing for my SGFC....
And as it's my first grow and I am busy with my exams in next 1.5 months, I prefer to go with something simple (like PF TEK + unmodified tub or mono). So can't really put more time for reading and preparing about LC,Agar,SAB and other stuff for now =/
Edit: lol, there was a poll at the end of 7th page about that, and that 18 people have done that with spores syringe.
Bonus Question: I am gonna shop my stuff from GluckSpilze, and they have only 450ml(pint) jars, do you think that will be fine ? I think their jars are just 1 cm taller than the short half pint jars which are 7.1 cm... so there shouldn't be much problem with substrate getting pressed ...
Bonus question 2 (@mushroomnate): What's the white (plastic?) that you line your monos with ! looks much better than garbage bag !!

Everything I have done on this thread was started with a spore syringe to brf/pf cakes. I would look around for the half pint wide mouth jars for your cakes.I have read about and have personally experienced MUCH longer colonization time with pint jars. And don't "press" your substrate.(brf cakes) The white plastic that I have used as a liner was just a white kitcken garbage bag. I have only used a liner 3-4 times and I do not like them. For me they are more of a hassle than just learning to maintain good surface conditions.

Harvested this box last night. 3 BRF cakes spawned to about 2qt coir/verm. Bottom watered just before I saw pins.(was a bit dry)
I'm pretty happy with that! Especially considering there was a time that I was doubting this box.

Yea,changing up varieties can be fun.I don't really like to grow the same one twice in a row. I think I'm gonna work my way thru some of the more unique P.cubensis varieties like,PE,APE(in progress),PEU,PE6,KSSS(really want to do these again, last time was in '04).etc.
Here's the chubby(4 cake)sister to the above box. Looks like they had a party across the surface.(weirdos and blobs everywhere)
