Was like hell yea, then got home from work to find that the slugs had clear cut any of the pins.

These slugs and squirrels will not let anything I put outdoors get a start. I'm gonna have to either get creative,or cruel.(salt and mothballs here we go)
Ive never been able to get rid of critters eating outdoor cubes, and im not gonna do anything like poison them. But so, in an area with lots of animals my last grow was outdoors and zero anything got in, its cause i still had a tub outside, and it was latched shut. Try that instead of a patch if you wanna work outdoors and the animals are eating all your cubes. Insects imo are the worst. These were some Amazing cubes, and it was literally 100 degrees many of the days. Also even tho its in a tub, when it started raining id get a huuuge flush
Got like 7 flushes total, eventually the sub was getting very old but still shooting out shrooms, i just mixed the spent sub in with some tomatoes and such

I think I'm gonna try this outdoor tub idea. I really don't mind if the critters eat the outdoor mushies,I just want to get a few nice pics of some outdoor flushes before they go to town.

I wouldn't say it "can't be done" however that doesn't mean it "should be done"

I know it's the wrong way. Was just an experiment, instead of throwing them away. Me and another member were talking on here about bacterial spawn. And someone said I couldn't spawn and fruit bacterial spawn successfully. Only reason I posted it.
Do not use bacterial spawn if your expecting good results. This was just a last ditch effort/experiment. Even the tub was experimental. It's a cardboard box lined with a bag.

Pasty, I heard u grew some gyms earlier this year? Is there a thread on it? I've been trying to search but no luck.

Oh ok thanks. Someone said u did for some reason lol.
And yes it CAN be done haha. Me and pixelpopper were talking about it one day that maybe a little bit of bacteria is beneficial. Obviously that's the case with bulk. Mind u, these jars were not severely bacterial. No visible wet spot. Just ultra dense foamy mycelium. It's loving the box tho, fruiting it with no top on it and only ambient light. And there's pins/knots everywhere! I know I just got lucky, just glad it didn't get funky yet.

I've got me an agar to LC question. In the way back machine I used to have LOADS of success using LCs directly from spore syringes. Of late however I've been running into non-pleasant contam / weak growth issues. I've decided that must be because of the syringes I'm using from a well known vendor. To that end I've taken a couple of spore prints and made some VERY clean Pasty Whyte's plates. I posted pics of those earlier in this thread. They are going GREAT and look like real vigorous growers. Does anyone think it would be a bad idea to NOW make my LCs from the strongest growth area on those plates and continue on down that path to my next step of WBS spawn greatness? Many thanks for your reply.

Agar to lc is the recommended way. I don't feel confident confirming if a culture is ready for it without pictures
