Salsa Not Hot Enough?

I like hot salsa. Lately at the supermarket I've been looking for some good hot salsa. Almost every jar said "mild" and then I finally found one that said "hot." I bought it and then found out that it wasn't hot at all. So I came up with a solution...
Here is way to make your mild salsa have a little kick. Buy a bunch of dried red chili peppers and keep them around. I have a big bag of at least fifty of them. They're pretty little, maybe an inch in length. Crush up a few of these and mix them with your salsa. Voila, a quick and easy way to make your boring mild salsa spicey. Try it you'll like it.

You are probably going to wanna get a patton on this idea! Just kiddin - La Victoria makes a decent HOT salsa - try that out. If thats not quite hot enough, call around to some local mexican joints and ask them if the have habenero hot salsa for sale. The best solution is to just make your own salsa. Its super easy and way better than any jarred shit. 8 tomatoes 4 large yellow onions 4-8 cloves garlic depending on your taste 10-15 japalino peppers - keep the seeds in for hotter salsa 1 bunch cilantro juice of 1 lime kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

My experience with Dave's is that it is very hot and very bitter. It tastes like shit. Peppers are better.
Either that, or I'm confusing Dave's with some other brand...

Just slice up a few habenero peppers and drop them in the mild salsa. Put it in the fridge and let it sit for a day or two. Presto... hot salsa.
We used to skip the salsa step completely. Put dry habenero peppers in the spice grinder and make powder. Put the powder in a spice shaker. Open up a bag of chips and sprinkle in some powder. Close the bag and shake it up. Hot chips, no salsa needed... stops those pesky housemates from eating all your food as well (assuming they don't like really hot food).

I don't think that salsas should be too hot, if it is you really can't taste the food. You need to have a balance between heat and flavor. I think this is one of the best hot salsas out there. Very flavorful and pretty hot too.

Or you could do what I just do. Eat a whole habanero in one bite and try to endure it with some food.
