Are these cubes? Found them growing out of new sod at work. Have to pick them early before the sun cooks them.

I'm not a professional and I'm new here but from other's I've seen ID'd and from the blue bruising (not always a sure sign) those do indeed look like cubes.. :o.. nice find! I'd wait for someone else with better experience though to confirm.

It's so hot. They are shriveled and dead by 11am ish. Earlier than that on the east side of the building. So I have to pick them when they're small. It would be nice to have 3 straight days of cloudy rain to give them a chance, lol.

Agreed...
Sorry, I edited out the other half of my comment lol. I thought I was commenting on another tab.. but yes it is indeed too warm. Kinda disappointing considering I'm not even wanting a lot. Just enough for a good solo trip

I’m down visiting in South Florida I hope to do some hunting. There’s no wild cubes where I live now. I doubt the weather will cooperate with how hot it is. Hopefully I can contribute some finds here this week!

I have been finding a few small cubes ever day in the sod at work. I'll probably have enough for a fun night by the end of the week. Makes for a nice job perk and it's incentive to get to work early, lol.

not really. it's fairly common to find cubes in fresh sod. next season they most likely won't return, or very few if they do, without spreading manure for them.

This is a very large area of freshly laid sod. I imagine manure was used at the sod farm. It's pretty convenient, but it will take me a week or so to come up with 3ish grams dried. It would be easier if it wasn't so hot, but they don't last the day. Got to find them and pick them before 10-11am ish. I'm curious to see if they will grow larger as the summer starts to subside.

Still hot as balls here in central Florida. I'm guessing you could still find some good ones in the pastures with tree cover and/or long grass. But, I haven't set foot in a pasture in 15 years (the one's I used to frequent are all subdivisions and shopping centers now), lol. I've thinking about real hunt or two but if I do it I'm going to wait until the temps start to roll back a bit more.

I'm hoping we get some rain this weekend. It rained non stop like last week and now that I want to go out and hunt it hasn't rained a drop here.. WHY WEATHER WHY!!
Not very hopeful though. Predicted rain but temps not moving much for the next week :/

Anyone have any luck? I went out a few days ago and was empty handed. Literally on my way off the farm when I spotted one single patty sporting three tiny cubes. I didn’t even bother to weigh them but I’m guessing it was maybe 1 or 2g fresh.
It’s just too damn unrelentingly hot

Psilocybe cubensis

This is also psilocybe cubensis, they either took the sod from an area that was used to hold cattle or they heavily fertilized with manure.

No luck here either. Not even seeing the non-actives that grow around my apartment right now. I have some nice oyster shrooms that grow right next to my door, but even those are dead still.
However, temps are dropping into the upper 70s and mid 80s with higher humidity for multiple days so I'd say Tuesday AM time would be a good chance to get dirty in some poop. (Good thing I'm off work )

I've seen a few little small mushrooms growing thanks to the earlier rains we've had! A day or two more and we should be green light to go >:)

What's the humidity level? Below 65% is slow growth to no growth. Constant 65% and up is best.

61% tomorrow but 65% and up hitting 85% during the week. It's been in the 70s for a few days now here. Especially at night it's hitting 85+. Always humid at night right now.

I know here in the far western panhandle mid July to mid September beginning October things slow down considerably due to high temperatures, thick grass that provides some shelter is best during this time of year, but not the only place they will grow, under shade trees where cattle hangout is also good.
