This is the first time I've really dived into this hobby. I started 4 projects with a 5th one on the way. My main one--the one this log will be focused on--is PE. It's followed closely by AA+, Nepali, cloned store bought oyster, and tamps. This is also the first time I'm growing mushrooms for the sake of growing mushrooms. I'm don't have that drug hunger. I'm just fascinated by this branch of science and biology.

PE inoculated on 8-3. First transfers on 8-7. Here's the germination plate prior to transfers.

2 were taken.

Plate number 1 as of today.

Plate number 2.

I plan on taking 2 transfers from each.

AA+ transfers coming soon.

Here's a random grocery oyster clone. I want to do LC and cakes with this.

Nepali spores to plates last night, and I'll follow through with tamps within the week. Today's task: PE transfers.

Interested to see how the grocery clone goes. Been tempted to do this a few times but it seems like a lot of the popular opinion is that the commercial guys run their genetics for so long that cloning their stuff is often squeezing the last bit of vitality out before senescence starts affecting vitality.

I was thinking the same as well. I tried to pick the best looking ones, and that batch was from my favorite store--not your standard Safeway. I'll do one round of cakes using LC with this. It was an impulse clone.

My transfer skills--sweet fuck.

I tried to center it on the plate. Ended up on the side near the lid instead. Ugh. Shaking the plate only made the puck loose, and now it looks like a turd.

This one was one piece that, somehow, ended up as two. My other 2 transfers are fine, but I need to be better with the Xacto knife. I did this before going to work, but that's no excuse.

Overall, my SAB work has gotten much better. (Aside from transferring.) I kind of shit the bed on making mine. the holes are a little too close and too down, I have to bend my knees to do it proper. It's manageable for agar, but once I go to grains, I need to make a better one.

Shit-I know the rule on bumping, but I forgot to ask: What's the best way to tape up SAB holes? Just regular duct tape? Is there even a concern for airflow when it comes to that?

No need, those plates are about as safe as they're gonna be inside or outside of your sab.

I waited a little too long to take a second transfer of AA+

They look off to me. I'll take 2 from each and hope for the best. If they're unusable, I have another germination plate. It looks fine, but it's not the speedy first germination plate.

About the store-bought oyster...

I took a clone that's much too big. After I toss this, I probably shouldn't bother trying again, but I impulse bought 3 liquid culture lids. I'll make this happen.

Let's get to work.

About to take 3rd PE transfers. After that, I'll probably knock up some tamps.

The condensation is why I shot from the lids. I should switch to petries after my first harvest.

I took this PE plate to grain on 9-1.

I tiger'd the plate to rye, and here it is as of today:

I think I'll either shake tomorrow or the next day

I have 4 more jars going from one plate, so they'll take their time. I inoculated tamps to agar. I'm going to put good cultures to grain, and hide them. I want my sclerotia to surprise me.

Also, some Nepali. This is a second transfer becoming a third transfer--6 of them. My long term goal is an LC and a PF tek as well as bulk.
