My first grow report- Penis Envy (2 months in so far- almost done)

What’s up dudes! So this is my first grow and I wanted to detail the journey so far with some pics. Feel free to comment or tell me I did something wrong lol. Just go easy on me.
- Started inoculation about two months ago. I have mycobags with self healing injection ports and rye berries for the initial substrate. The mycelium did a great job colonizing over about 3-4 weeks.
-Next I’ve moved the colonized rye to a larger mycobag with the bulk substrate. I’ve left the bag in a dark room for about 5 days or so. The mycelium rapidly took over the bulk substrate.
-Then I added about a half inch casing layer and gave it a couple of days. The mycelium were really aggressive and got to the top of the casing layer.
-Then I introduced it to fruiting conditions about 9 days ago. I use a plant grow light almost directly on the bag 24/7. I’ll mist with water, several mists, once per day and then I’ll fan the bag really well once per day. At about 6-7 days it started pinning. The last picture I have posted is from today. I’ve got some nice PE clusters going at this point that are about an inch for the largest ones and some very small less mature pins are all over the place.
So that’s the update so far. I’ll add more updates as it progresses. Feel free to ask any questions or add ideas.

Of course this is my first flush but I’m worried that they won’t get very big. I’ve seen some PE get freakin huge. Is it alright for them to be as small as they are? Also what do I do with the ones that are significantly smaller than the others. Do I pick the mature ones and leave the rest?

Those look like they all have a little while until they need to be harvested. They will grow larger as long as conditions allow. Dont forget that PE are mutants and they (for the most part) dont drop any spores. So even once the caps open up and flatten out the stipes can continue to grow into huge mutants like this one... Also this was grown in a 54qt monotub that I spawned 4qts of grain spawn to, so temper your expectations since your fruiting in your spawn bag. Kudos dude!!
Oh also, Dont worry if some are small and a few may get huge.. I just harvested some that weighed in at almost 150g wet and I harvested some that were maybe 5g. Multispore genetics can vary a lot..

Aight dawg, here we go... 1st things 1st... you're gonna want to take the vendors name outta your post if not, a mod will handle it.
2nd- That ink your arm is an identifying mark. Up to you
Those are the posting tips.
Now on to your PE.
Is there a reason why you're choosing to fruit it in the bag? Not that you can't. Did you order pre-made sub in that bag? Just curious.
You don't need to leave it complete dark while it's colonizing. And 12 hours of light is fine for fruiting. 24/7 is overkill but at the same time, not hurting anything.
Right now while it's fruiting I would take that bag clamp off and let them get more air. IME, PE like a lil more air than classic cubes. And even though I've noticed that PE like lil more water than classic cubes, you can still over mist. So you can back off how much you're misting those for now.
And lastly, you do have some fruits there along with a lot of "mutants" or "blobs" which are those really gnarly looking "fruits" you have there.
You seem off to a decent start tho.
But if you keep at it you can get lil to no "mutants"

More air, less water... those are way too wet,but don't go drastic and end up from one extreme to the other...

Less misting and more humidity with proper fae. They are definitely looking too wet

Cool so let these suckers grow as big as they'll get until the flatten out. Do I pick the ones that are finished and leave the small ones to continue growing?

Thanks for the advice. I fixed the post. And yeah I got the bag with premade substrate. Just to keep my errors to a minimum being that this is my first grow.
The bag does have a filter patch on it to help with air flow. So you think I should just take the clamp off and open it up? Doesn't great increase chances of contamination? I'm also in a region where I'm constantly running my AC cause it's hot. I'm worried about too much airflow.

How would I give it proper FAE in the bag? I've just been opening it up and fanning it.

Oh and also as far as the casing layer goes. I thought that the mycelium would grow the mushrooms through the casing layer. Because only the mycelium that made it to the top of the casing layer are growing. Did I use too thick of casing?

That filter patch doesn't allow enough fae for fruiting PE. It's needs more air. Opening up the bag will not make the substrate contaminate at this point. Leave the top cracked and mist when looks dry in there. Pick the blobs when they start to get soft.
You're casing was probably a lil uneven. I use a thick casing layer for PE myself.
Lay off the misting for lil bit and let it breathe.

We (typically) spawn in open air and thus our substrate is full of contaminants from that day forward... we generate spawn in sterile conditions so that we have a healthy living culture present that has a chance to colonize the substrate before contaminant spores have a chance to germinate and grow to be an issue... there are fruit there: you're colonized and pretty resistant to contaminants... IMO/E, CLEAN SPAWN is the deciding factor between success or failure with bulk (cakes too, but your spawn is your substrate)

That's a little confusing. So are you saying that once it's started fruiting that chances of contamination is slim so I should be safe?

Yes... im saying that once youve spawned a bulk substrate, it is contaminated... and that bc you (ideally) have a healthy culture, will be colonized with mushroom mycelium before this contamination is an issue... confusing how? Basically, once spawned, no more sterility, or need to obsess over it... with a substrate bag (what you've got I think) you need to wait for full colonization, but with fruit present, chances are near zero

Once you're colonized in sterile conditions the need for air during fruiting opens your culture up to exposure to contaminants but your myc culture is now strong enough and in sufficient control of the food that competing contaminants will have trouble - at least for a while while your culture is strong - getting themselves established. Genetics, care of the substrate, contaminant exposure, ph, etc. all play into how long your culture has the upper hand. Ideal conditions can get you seven/eight/more flushes before your culture throws in the towel although most people don't stick around for this.
At some point the contaminants will get a foothold and take over, which is natural. Different molds/fungi/etc. enjoy eating things at various stages of decomposition. When your myc is done with the food that you provided it won't put up much resistance.

Clean spawn can get you 6 flushes with less than ideal conditions: my last tub finished 2 flushes (flushes 5&6), outside, (still in the tub ) without so much as a mist! Though I had to dump rain water from it a few times... in short, any contamination that keeps you from harvest, was more than likely introduced at inoculation...

Okay got it! That all makes perfect sense.
Okay so what is this? The greenish stuff. Is it bruising or mold? Is this normal? It looks blue in the pic because of the blue light but it appears greenish blue in person.

Green is no good, but bluegreen is subjective... hard to say, but appears to be bruising
