Question for the community regarding extra spawn * 1
    #25386237 - 08/13/18 07:39 PM (2 years, 8 months ago)

Say you had an extra 23 quarts of p. galindoi/mexicana spawn and a full greenhouse and nothing to do with it.

At the moment it is filling my myco-fridge across five one-gallon ziploc bags sealed with a little air inside.

How would you dispose of/make use of it?

Gotta be something better than just digging a hole in the ground and dumping

Thanks y'all
FH

edit: here's a couple of the trays from the GH :derfase:

Already pulled stones I'm guessing?

Buy 10-20 shoeboxes for $1 and case the grains lightly with coir.

they don't do awesome in a semi-open air grow on a shelf like cubes do but you'll get something

Yeah, 7 months in jar, got about 100-180g per jar. Not too shabby.

I have some little foil trays i filled the GH with, spawned to sub and whatnot.

Shoebox monotub will produce fruits? That's impressive. I was under the impression a GH is needed for extra FAE.

Yeah I can see it dries out quick. I keep the GH casings pretty wet, they don't seem to mind like cubes do.

I have 8 quarts of 50/50 pasteurized in a filter bag but it's been there for a month sealed up. I bet re-pasteurizing would work fine.

Or start an outside patch if you live where it's warm most of the year.

Check out the growlog in my sig for P. Galindoi in a old school monotub

Hey Wing! Thanks for dropping by! I'll take a look

Would my standard 18 gallon monotub work?

How thick to case straight grains? I used a real thin 1/4" casing for the substrate

How thick to layer the grains before casing? My subs in trays are about 1.5"

Yeah I updated my post above with a picture.
Shoeboxes my style with the grocery store bag humidity tent. I happened to use a Christmas Tupperware but same thing basically.
You won't get beautiful fruits but they work

Was about to press submit but I guess I didn't before I locked my phone lol

Any tub would work, but you'll have to dial it in as you go.

I mixed my spawn with coir/verm D5050 style so no experience casing grains.

Stonesun has done some fine work if you haven't read it already

Hai Frank!

I've done ATLs in a mono. That's actually the only way I've done them. I've never cased straight grain with Mexicanae but I'm sure it could work with some amount of maintenance.

Fuck, you could just case the jars themselves and top fruit. Go super old school with it.
