Okay all here’s a day 4 update on the little beauties I found in my yard.  Used a silver dollar rather than my Copenhagen to use as a size reference.  Hope you enjoy!

Without a doubt.  After losing that last batch to heavy rain I’m not taking any chances.  Finally being patient to let them grow.  It’s been very dry so I’m misting them 3-4 times a day.  No fucking around this time:cool:

Ahh, I see what you’re referring to.  Yes, the stipe and gills should bruise blue.  Another good indicator is blue at the base, hence the nickname “blue foot”.  It looked like a P. Caerulescens but I’m new.  I’d wait for a trusted identifier to help but you need to have all the info they ask for and good pics.

Yeah, I ended up picking them today.  That shroom was actually cracked when I found it.  Unfortunately setting the sterilite over them in the open made them stick out like a sore thumb.  It also helped them grow a lot today though.  Took the two larger caps and have them on some foil collecting spore prints.  I left 3 pinners that we’re starting to come up so I’ll be following them.  Here are some pics!

Total coincidence man.  I’ve been on numerous hunts without any luck.  Not sure why they chose my yard but I’m not complaining:)

Couple of spore prints I took from the mushrooms I found in my back yard.  Let them sit for 13 hrs.  Would have let them sit for longer but I did a trial run and after 24 hrs the specimen was mush and print ruined.  Now to get everything together to get a healthy culture and see what I can do!  Wish me luck!

Those are dark prints, you have plenty of spores there. The tough thing with "wild" prints are that they will be more dirty.  Have you grown any mushrooms before? It sounds like it's your first time.  There's a lot of people that will say it's tough/impossible but I was able to fruit pretty much every way I've tried them.  I still haven't gotten anywhere close to a canopy and they will take additional time, but I think you can do it.

Start with some BRF cakes if you're new.  Use those to spawn to bulk. Agar may be difficult since you're probably going to have to clean your culture, but that's where I'd go next. Use less spores then you think.  You have years worth there.

I had someone advise me to start with agar to get a clean culture since they are wild.  I need to refrigerate the spores correct?

No need to refrigerate.  Store spores in a ziplock bag in a cool dark place.

I was in your shoes less than a year ago, no experience growing and caerulescens prints.  Trust me agar is going to be tough starting out with wild prints. If you start with agar you might have fruit in 5 months at the earliest.

If I were you I'd start some cakes and start with agar at the same time.  Here's some notes I made from things I've tried: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=30&Number=24968298&PHPSESSID=&fpart=1#24968298

Good luck either way!

Prints are dried, dated and stored.  Now to get supplies together to get a clean culture and see what I can do:). I have another thread in the cultivation forum that say P. Casrulescens is a bold choice for a first time grow.  I’ve always like to get the more difficult tasks out of the way first so the others seem easy.  May be a tough journey with let downs but that’s part of the challenge.  Once I get started I’ll start a journal.

So I was doing my evening rounds and barely spotted this cluster growing near the last mushy I posted.  I had dug a small hole near the last batch I harvested and it looks like they are growing around the edge, out the side and at the bottom of the hole.  Supposed to have highs in the mid 80’s to low 90’s over the next couple weeks but the lows will be in the 60’s.  Hoping these have a chance to reach their full potential!  Will keep posting updated pics.

Thanks:).  I’ve had batches pop up in my yard over the last year or so.  This summer has been more active than last though for sure!  I’ve also done some things to encourage growth and so far it seems to be working.
