Has anyone tried using a Mix of Coir/BRF and some verm in their bottle tek adventures? I want to use it, I have a bunch of coir leftover so I'm not getting shredded straw (plus I'm in an apt).
Let me know what you think of my recipe idea, and let me know what proportions of each you would use.
Hydrated Coir BRF/ WBS Flour / Whole Wheat Flour / Whatever leftover grains I have flour Ground up doggy food Maybe some verm if the coir isn't enough water retention Bit of Gypsum
Plan is to have a dry mixture to mix in with the hydrated coir/verm, no grain prep allowed (lazy fucker mode, if it works you will thank me later)
Help me figure out the ratios babes!

https://www.mushroomguru.co.za/mg-lz8.html
According to the product description of his extract:
Quote:
Reishi DOUBLE EXTRACT capsules contains 15mg of MG-LZ8, South Africa's first Reishi DOUBLE EXTRACT and is the corner stone of our new range. The name "LZ8" (Ling Zhi-8) was originally given to an immunomodulatory protein, isolated from Ganoderma lucidum.
Each bottle contains 30 capsules which are vegan, chitin free, organic, not GMO and 100% bio-available. Take one capsule daily for overall well being. For targeted concerns take 2 capsules twice a daily, depending on the severity of the condition.
so RDA is 15mg of extract that they state is equivalent to 5400mg (5.4gram) .
So if you have just dried powder, youd take 5g. Thats probably a lot of chitin. With your extract thats 5% of your tincture, which would be 100mls. if thats alcohol it would get you smashed. I'm assuming youre using home grown good shit instead of chinese mystery powder, which quite often is just inert powder
I'm still every bit as confused as I was before on converting fruit body mass to extract dosage. It's not like I can know how many polysaccharides or triterpenes were extracted. A reishi extract in capsule form is not the same as a liquid tincture.
There is no 'recommended' dosage because there has not been sufficient research on it, especially for general use. Manufacturer recommendations are half guess, half repeat sales tactic. It sucks, but that's the way of it afaik.

Also, is it possible that there's too much soil on top? I tried to make it as thin as possible. When should i give up?

I dont know for sure, but my spent subs survived temps close to 100 this summer. For what its worth, i also noticed that the mushrooms popped up after they were given a nice watering, and then sat for a while without a watering. We've been having a ton of rain now recently, so they've been getting watered every single day, and they have no longer been producing fruits.

I put down a bunch of the coffee grounds I got from starbucks over the top of mine.. hoping that helps deter some of the bugs, but I don't know if that works

Apparently tobbaco dust works for slugs and snails. Otherwise putting down a plank, letting them sleep under it at night, then picking it up and throwing them off works as well.
I hope the little buggers trip their little shells off

I think PCing molded jars is more useful to somebody living in the city who doesn't have anywhere to dump it.
But even then.. I'd bag it up on a balcony and toss it still.

I dumped the jar on the shady side of my house to see if anything good survives.
Dishwasher is good enough in everyone’s opinion? Could you elaborate a bit on your statement about the mold, tryptkaloids? That’s surprising/interesting to hear.

Wash for visability if needed. I don't have a dishwasher so idk if itll actually get myc off the jar, but that jar doesn't really have any myc growing along the jar.
Have you ever smelled mold? Imagine that but burnt. Not a good time, it fills your house, not every mold is like this i don't think. But one time is enough for me

No that shit sounds straight up retarded. Would you sterilize moldy bread, cheese, produce, or any other food before tossing? No. Most house plants are full of green mold in the soil so unleashing some spores into your house is pretty moot, especially if you've ever opened a window or a door. Waste a PC cycle just to kill some mold in jars is beyond asinine in my opinion
