Water pooling in jar!
    #25370240 - 08/06/18 01:34 PM (6 years, 5 months ago)

So this jar is the farthest along (two weeks in) though most others are not far behind, showing serious shrinkage and several have colonization on the bottom
None of the others seem to have this problem, where water is visibly pooling at the bottom. I've  been told this can cause problems, and I am wondering if there is anything I can do other than just wait and see if it turns out okay after consolidation?

It happens... Your moisture content is a bit high but don't worry if no contams are visible... Just use a tiny bit less water next time.

Should I still dunk this cake if the moisture content is too high?

Good question. Probably. I'm unsure though. Wait til someone else weighs in.

Possibly metabolite being produced to fight of bacteria that has stalled the growth.

Always dunk! Never assume.

Metabolite is what people refer to as "Myco Piss". It's an antibiotic-like substance that the myc creates to help fight off contaminates, such as bacteria. It can actually be clear in it's earliest stages.

How long has that jar sat with no advancement in growth?

It hasn't. All of my jars including the one in the picture that has the pool of water have had constant growth.

Oh, okay sorry if I was confusing! I will definitely keep an eye on it.
If one were to have metabolites in their jar, should they not spawn the cake and just fruit it as is?

No spawn the cakes...Metabolite is completely normal, it's when you start getting excessive amounts that you should worry. I think you're gonna be ok

If it did get excessive, could you use an old syringe to suck out the water? Thanks.

Without risking further contamination? No.
