Stuck in the jar...

Alright...first timers here, done all the searches I can.
We just finished birthing 5 of 6 jars into our grow chamber, that last one grew faster than the others (we experimented by giving it more light as it colonized) and there are mushrooms already growing in it, the others were just starting to pin. The cake with shrooms is not coming out of the jar.
i read that it is a bad idea to break up the cake, so what should we do?
thanks, this place is great

I had this problem also.
What I did is take a small baggy, and put the opening of the jar inside the baggy. Now firmly grasp the bottom of the jar with one hand and BANG!! it really hard on a semi-hard surface, like a wood desk or shelf. Do this a couple times, and the cake should fall into the baggy.

banged it a few times...breaking the jar was our next idea, but I was worried about having a clean break, shattered glass is pretty intimidating!

Last time I went with PF-tek I was forced to break 8 jars out of 12 and told myself : fuck this tek.
The only reasons why it's not good to break jars is : you paid for that and now you break it and second, it might hurt the cake a little bit but that's no big deal.
So wrap it in a towel and hit on the side of the lid with a hammer. That's the way to go!

Fuck all that violence....why not just case the damn thing!! I had 6 jars and couldn't get any of the cakes out in pure form, but casing was my intention anyway. I stuck a clean fork inside the jars, smushed up the cakes, and VIOLA!!

Some people had really great results by simply adding a casing layer on top of that cake still in the jar, cover the sides and fruit that way.
But in his case, he already has invitros.. So case if you have some other cakes to case or break!

Yeah, the best thing to do is check the FAQ's our FIRST!! I've only been on this site a couple of months and see how irritated people get from others asking questions that are answered within the FAQ's. I did a hell of a lot of reading and figured everything out, mostly, on my own...trust me, it's not rocket science

i did that for the tek, and i was warned to read the site thorougly first, and wasn't seeing anything about the cake being stuck. You guys have been a big help in pointing us where to look next so we can get this done. Good yields, everyone.

Not good to break up cakes. I wish somebody told me that before this thing.

I think the cake method is dumb...even though I have never tried it and went straight to casing. It seems as if casings allow for larger and more fruits, as well as a barrier for better protection. Just my two cents....

Smart thing for somebody that has never tried it to say. I kind of know casings.

I dont use the cake method either. I find my yeilds to be more if I go straight to casing.
