Identification please
    #25366479 - 08/04/18 01:32 PM (4 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
South central Iowa, USA.  Woods, on a downed tree log (elm?) in a ravine.

Gills:
No gills?  No spongy underbody?

Stem:
1 inch length, 1/2 - 1/4 inch wide.  White

Cap:
1-2 inched, concave, tan

Spore print color:
Unknown

Bruising:
None noted

Other information:
Smells like a mushroom.  Wondering if this is immature oyster?  Found 1 week after finding mature Phoenix oyster on the same log.

No spongy underbody?  I think it could be a immature Pleurotus dryinus with the gills covered up by the partial veil.

Lentinus sajor-caju is another possibility.  Pretty similar to Phoenix oyster and has a membranous partial veil.

Thank you!  Not sure if either of those fit 100% but I plan on taking a tissue sample tonight and, if I can successfully get it cloned and then fruited later I will report back!
