If chicken egg farming is a perversion of nature...
    #2536259 - 04/07/04 07:59 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

If chicken egg farming is a perversion of nature, wouldn't that mean that gas stoves are also perversions of nature? I mean, we TRAP gasses in tubes and FORCE them to travel to the end of the tube, at which time they are DESTROYED by flame.

I don't know why I posted this. I haven't smoked in three days, and I just did. This thought, for some reason, popped into my head and I wanted to share it.

Also: if this was my true view, and I hadn't just randomly thought of it and thought it funny; wouldn't it be close-minded for anyone who believes animals "have a soul" to go ahead and state that things like gas and flames don't?

I think the hamster wheel has broken loose!

First of all, chickens don't live chill lives, having their eggs taken away when they feel like laying them.  They spend their lifetime in crazy cramped conditions, pumped full of growth hormones.  Their beaks, which are full of nerve endings, are burnt off, so that when they become psychotic from the torturous living conditions, they are unable to peck eachother to death.  Their laying cycles are extended using electric shocks, sometimes to the genitals .  When they get too old, they are unceremoniously killed.

Gas is a chemical, a chicken is a living thing.  If you want to eat eggs, raise some chickens on your own property.  Guaranteed you wouldn't be able to do the horrible things mentioned above, it'd make you sick.  On the other hand, no one would feel squeemish connecting a propane cannister to a stove .  Rule of thumb: trust your own instincts.

Dude. It.. was.. a.. joke..

... Did you even read the whole post? It's not like it was that long.

Man, I'm honestly amazed anyone took this seriously.. you're probably actually the guy who made the post which inspired me to post this. So I already heard your whole speech on the subject.

P.S. The point was not to glorify chicken farming, but to try to make people to think on things at a different angle.. apparently it was unsuccessful.

Ah well, I tried. Have a good one.

Come now, Jacques. Noviseer leads a life of veganism. Subsequently, I figure he feels strongly about animal issues.

yeah and i mean even if it was a joke, noviseers response is the only thing in this thread with any substance. Even if you were joking i think more people should hear Noviseer's point of view. Plus it was an accurate rebuttal to your argument (comparing gas to chickens) and thus you shouldnt be surprised to get it. If you didnt want people to respond why post?

But no hard feeling on any side, i hope?

comparing gas to chickens

Chicken doo-doo puts outputs a large amount of methane so a comparison might be semi-valid...

lets compromise, I'll turn on the gas and fry us all up some nice eggs and fried chicken (unceremoniously killed of course) while you tell me how you feed 200 million people who like to eat meat without factory farming

yup.. ive made many ,amy attempts to go vegetarian and failed all within hours days or ... yeah hours or days. The problem is 1. i work out alot and need a large supply of protein, and it is hard to get it all from tofu and soy. also im not convinced this kind of protein builds muscle as well as meat.

2. i love meats taste and crave it powerfully

3. i realize that humans have been killing animals for food since the dawn of time, and even though modern methods are more cruel, its just too deeply embedded in the psyche that humans are the eaters, animals are the eaten and thats just the way it will be, so even if i did drop off the meat marked the meat companies wouldnt miss my money much but i would miss there meat.

4. of all the atrocities in the world i care alot more about the suffering of the third world and the war on terror and war on drugs than i do about the animals. its horrible i know but humans must come first in my book.

None here either.. it was all supposed to be in good fun in the first place. "Substance" was not what I was after with that post, at all.

P.S. Noviseer, if it makes you feel better, I do not condone the idea of chicken farming.. my family actually buys those "cageless eggs" that you can get.. I haven't looked into it much but I assume that the chickens that make them are treated better...

Yeah but by the same point of view you can say smoking marijuana is inhailing fumes of dead plant courpses. And see it as a horrible act to nature. The thing is that neither marijuana or gas is the product of a company that makes millions out of mistreating, torturing and breeding animals for slaughtering.

heres a thought....that steak on your plate isnt really meat. where did the cow come from that that steak came from? well the cow before it, and how did that cow get the energy to produce that cow.....buy eating grass  so i guess even vegitarians can eat a big steak dinner now cuz all it is really is the grass that it ate before it was uncerimonially killed....at least with this crazy weed induced thought at 7 in the morning after 3 days with 5 hours of sleep...take it for whats its worth

oh ya, and what came first? the chicken or the egg?

We eat free-range chickens, eggs from free-range chickens, and free-range beef. Yes, death IS at the end of those creatures, but their lives are not the death-camp horrors of agri-farming. We too will eventually be consumed - by time, by flames, or by the Earth. In the meantime, give thanks not only to GOD, but to the creatures who are about to be consumed by you and become part of you.

It is agri-farming that is cruel and unnatural, since it does not regard the sentience of living creatures, and treats them like inanimate objects. It is, on a less hellish scale, the same mentality that the Nazis had when they not only exterminated millions of lives, but recycled human hair for matresses, human fat from the crematoria into soap, created handbags and lampshades from human skin (as did Elsa Koch - 'The Bitch of Buchenwald'), and reclaimed gold from human teeth. The rest of the agri-farmed animals go into feather pillows, dog and cat foods, fertilizer, and who knows what else?

Lastly...if you're smoking hemp, and begin to think that gas and flames are sentient, then you most definately need to stop smoking that s**t permanently (IMHO).

We're running ourselves into the ground under the present system. Converting grain into meat wastes 90% of the nutrients. As the population rises and our farmland continues to degrade, something's gotta give. Just because we "like meat" doesn't mean its a good idea to consume it in such volume.
