So far most cakes have started fruit formation.
These two cakes are producing fatties.

A few have cakes are producing fruits from the surrounding coir.

Yeah those pins are definitely not growing out from the cake but from strands of myc that's leaped off into the coir.
These are all AA+ except 3 APE cakes that just started pinning.

The verm is enough of a "casing" for the ape i guess?

Well technically it's not APE but some leucistic phenotype that was swabbed from APE fruits.
I've grown those without a top layer before without problems so Idk if they need anything extra

These two produced 111g together

These strands won't get far on the soaking wet coir, they usually stay in one place once 'disconnected'

Ever try inoculate a cake with LC? That's even faster.

I love how those spread out to the coir.  You should put a nice backdrop behind and take pics, they are very pretty.

Meatah recommended it to me, to use LI.

Will do that with my next round of cakes

Guess random question about my GH.
So I built my own humidifier with a 5 disc pondfogger.
Got it connected to a Inkbird controller, set to 95%RH then to get on again at 92%RH.

Right now I have moved my GH into a closed for my Pan growth so that I can heat up the closet with a radiator. For whatever reason now the timing on the humidifier is 5-6 min OFF and 2 min ON.

I guess you guys answer will be as long as the trays/casing whatever does not get to wet it shouldn't be a problem?

Before it ran for 2 min but was off for about 10-12 min, I read somewhere that RR said to try not to run it on for me then 1/3 of the time.

Here is a picture of my setup.
The mist comes up a through hole from the grey pipe you can make out in the background.

Another question if that's OK chaps... Got my humidity chamber set up last night, it's under my bed 😂 with an led blue light set up. 24 hours in and I still can't see any humidity droplets inside. Should I have a heat mat set up underneath the tub??

No need for heat mats.
What you can do is spray down the walls completely and take notice after that how evaporation is going.
If the lid is closed or just flipped the walls should stay saturated all the time.

LI is just as good if done right.

I like to throw my excess LC from grain inoculation into BRF jars. I don't want to waste, especially if I can get results from that culture. Since I pour, I use a polyfill lid and no dry verm layer.

Care to tell me how you do it?
I have no pour glass jars with sfd. I thought let it colonize and either with the ship or without just put sterelized water into it with a syringe and suck it back up?

1 small plate ( about 2/3 of a normal plate) should be enough for a 20ml syringe, no?

You want to make LI? I like to drop a whole or a half culture into 50ml sterilized water that's inside a 3dl glass container with a rubber band lid that seals hermetically. Lid is unmodified. Drop the culture in, seal the lid and shake the shit out of the jar for 5-10seconds. This breaks the (0.5%) soft agar into a homogenous slush that's easy to pour or aspirate into syringes. I like to pour one of these LI's into 3-5 qt jars. This gives me fast and even colonization.

You asked for APEs yesterday? Here is a new HC with 14 of em. I just made it now.

Hi you guys having any problems with mold or cobweb in the HC?

My first cake fruited ok but it started getting blue toward the end of the first flush and looks almost green in particular round the hyphal knots. But I can't tell if it's just really dehydrated or mold has set in.

I'll try n get a pic but I'm just wondering if the HC is more susceptible to this. From what I've read plenty of fresh air stops mold forming but I find the cake dries out really quickly in the HC if the lid is left ajar too long. How are some of you controlling this as I understand yous mist just once a day and don't even fan?

Nah. If it's blue it's bruising. Sometimes blueing looks green, but isn't. Green from trich is very obvious.

Also highly unlikely that you'll get cobweb mould, as that requires very low FAE to grow. I'd forget the word "cobweb", since almost no-one ever has it.
