I dunked them for 12 and re rolled them( so next time just dunk 6 hours and no roll, just pop them back in the hc?). So I’m on the verge of calling it a loss. It’s been over a week and no growth besides a tiny pin on one. The cake that had growth fruited about 4 alright sized shrooms and one was weird(grew like a pigtail and went under another shroom, when I picked it I saw that it grew from underneath and the root of it had a clear kind of jelly texture on it) So I’m mentally preparing for my next one. I have 5 cakes almost fully colonized. So I know I’m going to have the soaking wet coir. I’m thinking about getting a cooling rack so I can really minimize the foil. It’s going to be a lot cooler in my area in the coming weeks so how can I prep for that? Does cooler temp require less fae or more?
So the other cakes have just started pinning finally.ost are around the bottom of the cake, would it be beneficial to flip the cake so the pins are then on top?

A bit less than a week in and I've got my first cake pinning like there's no tomorrow! First mature fruits are forming.
Putting in 8 more cakes today.
12/12 cycle, first half with light and lid ajar, second without light and lid only flipped.

Got most of my first flush with the cycle mentioned above.
Off 1 cake, I got what looks to be about 6gs, maybe a little more, but I'm not sure since my scale is broken.
The other 10 are pinning like crazy. This oughta be good!

Just harvested my last flush, all my cakes had started to turn dark blue and one had some yellowing probably bacteria. 15g dry weight on the last run. All in all total yield approx. 2 oz. from 10 cakes. Not bad for my first grow.
Next I'll be growing creepers and I'm going to split them up 50/50 and do half bulk/shoeboxes and the others in the HC.

So my next batch I had on the way has seemed to stall in the colonization process. Any suggestions on what would cause this? Room temp is 70 degrees. Could too much gypsum cause this?

Okay, I know there's a bunch of unanswered questions just floating here, but does anyone know if cakes that have fallen over can still fruit? A fucking cat trashed my fc and knocked over 3 cakes.

Cakes can handle tipping over and worse nothing to lose sleep over. If they healthy and like their habitat they will fruit.

panflake said: So I’m on my second flush and only one of my 3 cakes is having any growth at all. Any ideas what might be the issue? Does the second flush take longer/is it harder for the shrooms to grow from scratch again? I only leave my lid flipped upside down. On my first flush I was playing more with the air flow but having the lid upside down worked best. Not so much on this second go Would anyone recommend more air flow? Like I said one cake is doing good while the other 2 are doing nothing. Perhaps I handled them too roughly during the second dunk and roll? I was as gentle as possible but maybe the water from the sink was hitting too hard or maybe there too much germ on them?
Dude don't vive up. Sometimes they take longer than 2 weeks to pin. You keeping high humidity and not fanning but maybe once or a twice a day? Also, that first flush, when you birthed it did it have pins growing invitro? I had that happen and when i put them in FC it kept a weird Slime like stuff on the stim, especcially bottom on ftim. Give it more time. Make sure its misted and humid(but not over misted) and open up the lid and flip it or turn it 45 degrees for an hour or 2 after the misting. You should have some pins soon. You already got shrooms so thats a good sign.
How long did you dunk all these cakes for? And are they rolled in vermiculite?

More HC spin porn goodness! This is flush #2. Had a little issue somehow and these guys were struggling but I’ve got some more fae going and they went from almost dying to this in a few days! Also tried my first flush shroomies Saturday night with my husband and we had a pretty damn good time lol.

Thanks for the reply. I dunked them for 12 hours and you’re right it took extra long but eventually they pinned. I did roll them again but was advised to not roll and just dunk in the future

Is it ok to reuse the same coca for a new batch of cakes? I have 3 cakes on their 3rd flush and have 4 cakes ready to be put in. Would it be ok to have them all in the same hc? With the same soaked coca from the first batch of cakes?

Just make sure its wet and you can reuse the coir. It's ok to mix cakes of different flushes.
