Pins are coming in around the bottom of the cakes.
Gonna re-think their foil "boats" and put them on something else.

Trying this out with a couple 6 quart boxes. I had one with two cakes and one started growing some green mold so I tossed that one and have been watching the other to make sure it doesn't get moldy too but it seems to be doing ok so far and has some fruits growing on it. The other box has 3 cakes in it and I'm not getting much other than a bunch of white fuzz.

Did those cakes go into the HC right after birth or were they in another FC prior to this? How long ago since you birthed the cakes?

The fuzzy ones were birthed, dunked overnight and then put directly into the HC this weekend. The other one with fruits was pulled from my SGFC after the first flush then dunked and put in the HC this weekend as well.

Soo It's been only a few days since they were birthed, it would be weird if they already started pinning.
The cake from the SGFC had already started pinning and that's why you see second flush fruits pop up so soon after dunk.
Looking good so far

It's my first grow so I figured I'd try it a couple ways. I did a dozen half pint jars and some of the jars fully colonized at 2 weeks and were birthed at 3 weeks while others took longer. The 3 fuzzy ones didn't fully colonize until 5 weeks and were birthed at 6 weeks so I'll be happy if I get anything from them. Had to toss 2 jars, one that didn't grow anything and one that stalled half way through and then the 2 cakes yesterday that had some mold. Have about half an ounce dry so far and hoping I can get at least that much more to hold me over until the weather cools down and I try another grow. At least I have plenty of DMT if the mushrooms don't work out.

Harvest from 9 cakes.
Total dry yield from the first flush was approximately 32.755 grams.

I’m jelly. How did you dry them? Just leave them out in the open air?

I hope they've been in a dehydrator
That would mean that he harvested 30-50g fresh per cake, and that's not bad at all

Looks like a great harvest. I’m mouth watering over here because I’m hoping my cakes do something similar. Current progress:

Did you follow some other Tek or you just decided to do PF Tek differently?
Did you inoculate with agar?
Cakes look good BTW when were they inoculated?

Inoculated 8/8/18. I used a spore syringe. I followed PF tek but with grain jar lids because I’m not using the short 4oz jars. Bod recommended that if I remember correctly. If you make the same size cake as the small jars, you get the relatively easy colonization, but your needle won’t reach past the dry verm barrier, so you skip that, and go grain jar lid.

Open air drying is a no-go. They'd become unfit for consumption by that method. I used a dehydrator, the Presto Dehydro 06300. It turns on automatically once plugged in. One setting: 165°F.
Once cycle per plate as they were harvested on different time frames. 9 hours.

I’m looking to go dehydrator as well. Just waiting to get pins before I buy one. I’ve heard people claim leaving them out on a sushi mat works. Then desiccant jar for last small percentage. Never tried it obviously.

It also does depend on what the relative humidity they're being air dried in is. A fan would expedite the drying process before meeting the desiccant. But it is truly much better to dry them as fast as possible to preserve the peak goodness.

Hmm 8/8 was my b-day and it wasn't that long ago, now I'm a bit worried to why some of your jars are colonized that well
On what day did you notice germination?

Sorry to keep on o/t but re drying, I know a dehydrator is the best method but since I'm trying to do this on a budget (that doesn't mean cutting corners btw) I was hoping to use my oven. It's a fan oven and goes as low as 50c (120f for mercans) I don't see how this is any different form a bought dehydrator??

Should be fine as long as you're monitoring and you've moving air being exhausted.
