No it's not. The cactus in the OP is Cereus peruvianus, not psychoactive. The last one is Trichocereus pachanoi.

sucks when you get all stoked then shot down. I received a beautiful cactus at Christmas and thought it was something that it wasn't. I still like it though, it's my first cactus.
After reading how much it takes for one person I was kinda glad it wasn't an active species. Do they taste as bad as I think they would, like a wad of chlorophyll?

Cereus peruvianus is or isn't active? OP said it was, Tangich said it isn't. Which is it?

It is not san pedro, it is Cereus peruvianus which is not active. I have dozens of various Trichocereus hybrids and other cacti and know what I'm talking about.
BTW, OP didn't say that the cactus in the first post was psychoactive, he was talking about the one in the third post.

I've never seen any report or study that portrays M. cochal as a psychoactive cactus.

Didn't mean to offend, but either OP had a serious placebo effect or he didn't really ingest that cactus.
There are so many other cacti we haven't explored.

okay thank you so much for your time and response. I will keep my eyes open hoping to spot one. I was told that they grow here on the Island of Cyprus.

He was talking about one in the third post, which is indeed Trichocereus pachanoi.

Ah! My mistake. Do you know about the chemical constituents (i.e., of pharmaceutical potential) of other cacti, or just identification?

Mostly just identification. I know about main chemical constituents of commonly used cacti, but only have cursory knowledge and anecdotes about less commonly used ones, like Ariocarpus, some Mammilaria etc.
