Trich seedling question
    #25337279 - 07/20/18 05:48 PM (2 years, 9 months ago)

I know seedlings turning red is an indication of too much light. What causes a seedling to turn red or whitish at it’s base though? The top is still nice and green.

This sounds strange. I need to  see a picture to be 100% sure about the information I'll give you.

If you guys post a pic in this thread of the plants in question.  I'll help you :tongue2:

Hey PinkTarantula is this one of the seedlings I gave you in question or something else you started from seed?

Also are you still interested in that Monthly deal you wrote about in your rating?

Can you give me a little understanding on how you're growing these and what their conditions are. Any light ferts or organics added to the soil they're in?

I'm not seeing anything wrong with them other than a smaller lighter seedling in the lower right pic.  I see some light stretching but they seem to be filling in the tops at a fairly normal rate. When did you plant the seeds?

Yea hit me up when you're ready

Occasional addition of diluted Fox Farm big bloom. Occasional diluted super thrive. Growing on the bottom shelf in my green house with protection from light. They all seem to be doing it to some degree. I’m feeling super lazy now so I don’t have anymore pictures. Real sporadic watering. Humidity is probably much higher than ideal with all this rain.

They all seem to be doing what? I understand this weather is wearing. I feel the same way most days but it's supposed to be cooling off a little next week.

Lol! I already replied to your pic there but I guess I forgot to press send

IMHO those seedlings look fine as far as I can see in your pic. You can tell they've gone periods with lower light but they're growing into their selves pretty well.

Another picture from a completely different batch of seedling from inside under grow lights rather than a greenhouse.

It's completely normal. Happens to almost all of my trichocereus seedlings. I can say eactly why it happens
