The plumber just showed me the rat. He went back under the house and got it. The pest controller either lied, or is an idiot, or was too drunk to find it.

You should shop around for better pest control company.

I currently have a raccoon problem in my attic. Been calling around multiple places to see which one checks out the best. The rates for initial inspection and trap setting range from $150 to $300. One company said inspection would take an hour because they'd inspect every corner of the house. Another said it would take 5 minutes (I would just tell them where I think the raccoon is).

They also have different traps. One company kills them. Another relocates them. Etc etc.

You should also check reviews as well.

There's absolutely no way a reputable pest control company should be hired to set up regular ol' traps any Joe Schmoe could set up on his own.

anyone can trap a raccoon.  you need a $30 live trap and one scrambled egg.

a pond, lake, or deep creek is nice, too, for lowering the live trap into after said raccoon has taken the bait.

never trust a control co that says they release trapped coons.  they'll probably do it around the corner from your house so it finds its way back and creates repeat suckers customers.

Having a tough time with the fleas recently. There attracted to certain blood types and apparently mine is primo. So sick of this shit. Talked to a pest guy and he was like ya sure I can do it but it's not going to stop. it's the heat that's bringing them on in record numbers. You're basically just shit out of luck more or less.

Unfortunate the pest guy was a dick though. Ours is a super chill guy. I know more about ants than I ever wanted to. He knows everything about all sorts of pests. He likes to talk as well and I like to listen. Huh did not know that ya know haha. I trust what he says talking to him about the fleas. Well shit just have to tough it out I guess.

Wow, my gf gets ate up by fleas too-- but that looks severe.

Op, I absolutely would hire someone else. That company does not deserve your money. It's one thing to be drunk, it's one thing to be lazy, and it's one thing to not do your job.... It's a whole other thing to be a lazy drunk that doesn't do your job. I know a lot of people that would report this guy to a- his boss if possible and/or b-the better business bureau if he is the boss.

Have you tried using a bug bomb? I’ve heard people say they’ve had very good results from those. You just can’t stay in the house for a day.

It's not cool. I'm from Alaska and the mosquitos up there are bad as well. I have white scars from my childhood. I'm terrible about itching as I also occasionally get exzema. I've done a lot of things pleasurable in this world but itching is by far the best.

I've been many places and done many interesting things. I like to story tell. I do what makes the best story, if not I tell the better one.

lol.

or it's the result of being raised poor, in the country, on a farm, depending on your chickens, rabbits, and other livestock that the pest is killing for you and your family's sustenance and not being able to afford the waste of a bullet.

but you've never been in those shoes, have you?  being up close and personal with a wild animal, many of which carry rabies, that would sooner eat your eyeballs than be in a cage is no joke.  but it's easy to talk shit from the air conditioned comfort of the typical user's life.

btw, i learned that from a southern country woman who was the kindest, most respectful and helpful person i've ever known.  she'd not eat to feed a child, even one that wasn't even hers.

these days i dispatch the evil incarnate with a bullet, but i've drowned many vermin in my time.  i never liked doing it and cried as a child the first time i was given the task, but one gets over it when one experiences real life hardships.  hell, i'd drown any one of you if you threatened my family's survival.

i don't mind strangers thinking i'm dangerous even when i'm not most of the time.  and last thing?  while that was routine BITD, i wrote it tongue in cheek for today's world.  i figured i'd get at least one bite.
