Did you sow them straight into a soil mixture, Mateo? And if so, what did you use? It looks like you have a top layer of coir? Did you separate the seed from the berry?

I acquired a couple of fresh 'Amazonian coca' seeds. According to wikipedia, this is another name for E. coca var ipadu, so I'm really excited to try and grow these.

They grow excellent buddy. And they will surprise you. Expect at least 10 very healthy ones.

Some of mine looks sick and those i can expect not to make it. I guess they couldnt handle the all the rain and slow release ferts.

I cant wait for next year when i can start harvesting leaf. That should be very interesting.

Good luck with them mateo. :fonz:

I let them sprout in slightly moist sphagnum moss, warm under CFL.
Then when root sprout was 0.5 to 1.5cm i transfered to pots with soil.
I put them so seed was at 45 degree angle upwards and the top of seed visible.
Then i covered with thin layer coco, mostly because i dont want algae starting growing so easily.
It´s important to use a airy soil so rootsprout can get oxygen.

Amazonian coca should be the E.coca var. Idpau variety.
It´s little less potent but a very nice variety.
It´s my next Erythroxylum variety to try get.
Good luck with those Idpau seeds.

Idpau is grown in the amazon basin, acclimatized to a tropical rainforrest environment over 1000´s of years.
So it might need little different growing conditions compared to the other varietys.
I wouldnt be suprized if they grow much faster than the other varietys.
I have always thought that variety Idpau only could be propagated from cuttings.
You can read this everywhere but it seems false info, and i have seen berries avaliable to purchase.
I might buy some to try in the future.

Ferrel, your Truxillence seem to love the weather, they grow very fast and look healthy.
I hope mine will grow good also.

MG, your Trux is looking fine, same stage as mine.
Im really looking forward to see how they look when bigger.

Hi friends again, it's me, I wanted to share the fact that in Colombia is growing coca growing in the southern areas of the country
the truth to know this, that coca will be destroyed or destined to drug trafficking makes me a little indignant
but you know how this is, it is a struggle that has more than 100 years in my country
So far from all that reality I had 300 seeds of coca that I could not share, give away and sell for the conditions of care that these require, that is why the sembre en materos in my house
Here the climate is very hot, acid ground, use forest land + hummus
these coca plants will be destined to the mambe

A flower from my E.Coca plant

I wish i had another larger E.Coca so i could pollinate the flowers and get berries.
I cant cross pollinate my E.coca with a E.novo, right?
It would be sweet getting a mix if that could be possible.

I got a question I know coke only lasts for 30min how is it with your coca tea? Imagine it would be frustrating to only have such a short effect especially if its so slow and tricky to grow.

I have rehydrated some fallen off leaves from my E. coca and E. novo plants. I washed them a couple of times beforehand, because they fell off due to spider mites and the subsequent pyrethrum spraying. Hope the washing was enough to remove the insecticide, since I didn't want to just throw them out. I put a bit of sodium bicarbonate inside the quid, and bruised the leaves by chewing on them. Now the quid is in my cheek, and that side of my mouth is completely numb. No idea how long it will last. I feel a bit stimulated but not hyperactive. It wasn't a big quid though, just a little experiment.

Assuming that for each gram of coca leaves the bioavailability of cocaine is 1%, 100 grams of coca leaves will have 1 gram of cocaine, depending on the quality of the coca leaves and your ability to chewing. Chewing 25 grams of coca leaves will gives u the same high that snorting 250 mg of cocaine powder. the absorption is slower than doing cocaine powder as long as we are talking about about pharmaceutical cocaine or cocaine with a percentage of more than 90% of purity, it will probably take 45 minutes of chewing but u will get the same high. If u use alcohol before chewing, it will last 2 hours.

i usually grind 60 grams of coca leaves, i use 1/2 or a  full teaspoon  of baking soda per tablespoon of coca leaf powder, i add water until it moistens, let it set for 20 minutes, i drink some glasses of whiskey or wine and I put two tablespoons on each cheek. And it goes like that, some times during 4 hours, whisky and chewing, i get extremely high.

If you find yourself in a place with the right climate for planting, definitely worth it.

Lovely to have a couple of growers in this thread for whom these plants are native in their region! I'm interested in what local knowledge you have about these plants.
