I’ve never tried that with steak but that sounds good. I always use my torch to melt cheese.

PP5 container and snapping lid.
Wider footprint than most 8oz PP5 containers I have seen.
Sold in a pack of 40. ($11.85 +tax / 32 cents each after tax)
Free one day shipping (with PRIME).

-

Going with these for suitable no-pour agar work applications.

If you are using a sugar or starch based agar (99.99% chance you are), you will need a sterile outer container to keep those containers in.
The PP5 containers I use are sturdy enough to be wrapped or if you have wide filter tape, small glass jars are better.

Cheaper containers will warp, most likely first time, or have cheaper lids. Glass is much better in a PC.

If PP5 is a must, or you have ordered them already, I suggest 12% bleach + boiling water.
PP5 is rated to around 120°C, which is on the borderline for use in a PC.

That alone seems like a darn good reason to pick up one of them soos vodoo things.
edit:
Ebay has some good deals on glass dishes.
There is a case on Amazon for 80 bucks. Considering that.

Steaks were killer. Perfectly medium rare from edge to edge. Just gave them a light char with a torch. Super tender and juicy.

Indeed mushboy, the bases may be PP5 for hot liquids, but the lid less than 5, due to limited contact.
That being said, a quality PP5 (fully) is good for hot liquids, a microwave or storage.

Larger PP5 containers are also good for low risk substrates or medias.
High quality microwave pressure cookers make great cakes.

It varies, even when the tub says PP5, unless it's rated you wont't know it's max temp.

it either is pp, or it isnt. how can it vary?

There are different types of polypropylene, with melting points ranging from 120C-170C.

Most of what we want would be made of Propylene Random Copolymer -"produced by polymerizing together ethene and propene. It features Ethene units, usually up to 6% by mass, incorporated randomly in the polypropylene chains. These polymers are flexible and optically clear making them suitable of applications requiring transparency and for products requiring an excellent appearance."

Supposedly it’s an air sanitizer not freshener. I know RR used to say a lot about spraying it in the air. Lysol for surfaces and ozium for the air.

Ya rr used to be all about tyvek sleeves, never opening a contaminated petri dish, not doing wild clones in front of your hood, etc.

Cleanliness is important but sterile technique is god.  I'm a dirty hippie and the only thing that has ever made any meaningful and measurable difference in my cultivation is practicing my sterile technique.

The only cleaning products necessary for killer cult skills are soap and a little isopropyl.  And you could honestly probably get away without iso just presterilize everything before opening it in the SAB or sterile flow.

*cough* ... 80 now... *cough*

I don't like doing the regular agar work in the Mini Rounds is all.

I love to use them to Tiger Drop. Just not for isolation, etc. for a few reasons.

Mainly I don't like peeping in through the side to observe. Easier to find/see what I'm looking for in the bigger ones.

Saving those Minis for Tiger Dropping and the LC drop you sent me. They are perfect for that stuff.

Maybe when I get better at agar work I can make use of them for everything. Right now though I need a wider area to view when isolating (without opening the container up).

Guy I talked to not that long ago was big on not overdoing the expenditures involved with Ozium, Oust, Lysol, etc. He started there and worked down.

He ended up going with 10% bleach / water solution in a spray bottle for spraying down walls, air, etc. and ISO 70 for wiping down surfaces and cleaning up his arms/hands. A dot of dawn and hot water for scrubbing. That's it.

It's been working for me so far as well.

(Also said he had poisoned himself before... lol... don't mix cleaners. :p)
