Walking 500 Miles on Mushrooms

A long time ago I fell in love with hiking and it slowly became an obsession in life. I started by hiking 20 miles, then 50, then finally I walked a 100 mile trip. Then I walked the 800 mile Arizona Trail, and then the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail.
Also a long time back, but not quite so far back I discovered psychedelics and they quickly became a new obsession in life. I started with a mushroom trip or two, then quickly discovered LSD and DMT. In the last five years I've probably had around 100 psychedelic journeys--some of theme mellow and pleasant, some of them profound and literally life changing.
When I hiked the PCT in 2015 I tripped on average of once every 5 days. That alone was among the most profound experiences of my life and I documented it very thoroughly in what I believe is the longest "trip report" on the shroomery. For those who are interested, here's the link: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22471747
---
Anyways, the reason for this post is because in exactly two weeks I will be departing on a 500 mile trail and I plan on doing it in the same way that I hiked the PCT. I'll be using entheogens on a very regular basis, and hope to find some deep inner truth about myself, my life, my soul, and the nature of reality through these plant teachers.
I hope to share these experiences with this community. I haven't decided if I'll post trip reports about the entire thing, or if I'll post while I'm out there (when I get near wifi), or if I'll maybe make a video for the Shroomery, but I'm planning on documenting it very heavily.
When I left for the PCT I planned to write a book about the hike/trip, but to this day I've been unable to condense it into a single story... sadly I've written around 3,500 pages about the journey, and I can't figure out how to condense it down because it was so damn important to my formulation as a human being.
That being said, the upcoming 500 mile hike should be a bit more manageable, and I have high hopes (although not as dead-set hopes as before) to maybe turn this into a book. My working thesis for the story is that this will NOT be a 500 mile hike into nature, but a 500 mile journey into my inner-self.
I'll keep y'all updated, but any encouragement from this community will help. You were the ones who motivated me on the PCT to get it onto the page, and I am really grateful that I have the Shroomery to share these kinds of things with. Even though my friends, family, and coworkers know that I'm going out on this hike, very few people in my direct life could ever understand the use of plant entheogens out there to enhance the experience. Unfortunately, the hardest part about writing about them is that I've found that it looks like a story about "just doing drugs" when it gets down on the page. So I guess the challenge that I'm hoping to over come this time is to figure out how to get past the part of it that seems "fun" and really use this as a story about how psychedelics can be used for personal growth.
Anyways, I love you all, and will be posting back as I move forward on the journey.

Can I just ask how you deal with wild animals?I have a fear and especially a big one from bears. What if you are tripping on 5 g of mushrooms and a bear just walks up to you?Because from what I've herd you are most of the time out in nature in the woods right?

It's not really an issue.
I grew up in Alaska where bears are much more of an issue and I learned to deal with them while I was there. Up on this trail there will likely be bears, but it's unlikely that they'll cause trouble.
I should also say that I don't plan on just taking 5 grams and wandering out on trail. That's way too much for me to be hiking on. What I learned from my 2,650 mile hike on mushrooms is that the ideal dose for hiking is 1.5-3 grams. Anything more than that and I can't safely navigate, find water, filter water, know when I need a rest, etc. In short, safety is my highest priority. I may dose higher than 3 grams on trail and I'd LOVE to do a 5-7gram trip while I'm out there, but if I do it will be after I set up camp in a very safe place where bears and storms aren't an issue and where I have plenty of water and know that I won't be disturbed by people.
And realistically the only concern with bears is them getting into my food at night. That's why I'll be hanging my food a ways away from my camp.
Overall people exaggerate the risk of wild animals. You need to be aware of them, but overall just don't be dumb. The media makes it sound like going into the wilderness is suicide, but realistically, I'm WAY more likely to be killed driving to work, going to the bank, shopping for milk, or something like that than I would be from bears on the trail.
Also I want to emphasize that I have A LOT of experience tripping in the wilderness. I've had nearly a hundred psychedelic experiences in the past five years, and I've made mistakes, but I've also made it out alive and I've learned from my mistakes. I'm not going out there to trip my brain off. I want to take just enough to help me to explore my inner psyche and self. I want to use these tools to enhance the experience, not to take me completely out of this world. And as I said, if I do a big trip, it'll be once I've set up camp and can surrender to the experience under the stars.

It’s been amazing. I’ve been posting updates if you search for my most recent posts. So much to share! I’ll be doing a full write up when the journey is finished next week. So far about 400 miles in and have been able to use psychedelics more days than not. I’ve learned a lot out here. I don’t want it to end.

I have just finished the 26 day hike that was 525 miles long and stretched from Durango to Denver. I found that my journey on the Colorado Trail was much more successful in terms of my ability to use psychedelics along the way. On the PCT I was using mushrooms or DMT about every week, but on the Colorado Trail I used them 61% of the days that I was on trail, and almost every day that I used them I dosed and redosed and usually redosed again.
I hope you enjoy, and I’d love to hear your feedback if you make it through the whole thing.

Did you hike the trail up to brown's lake? I have a few aquamarine claims up there. Did you find any crystals while hiking?

Sounds awesome. I did 2 foot of San Pedro in nature and it was the best experience of my life. I could do any amount and safely navigate.
I know what you mean about peoples fear of animals. It is so irrational. They hardly ever attack. Africas the worst. You should be far more afraid of humans. They are so unpredictable. People are afraid of mosquitoes and ticks.
People are always making comments about coyotes being fierce animals. I have literally seen at least 70 coyotes in the wild. A house cat is more fierce than a coyote.

Did not get to that lake. The name doesn’t sound familiar. Mostly I stayed on the main trail except to climb a few 14,000+ft peaks. Found lots of quarts, but nothing more.

I'm gonna hike that trail next summer. I've worked so hard to get in shape but could never hike like this. OP you won the genetic lottery.

Quite wrong. Rather, I have put a tremendous amount of time and dedication in my life to personal fitness and I trained like an animal for this hike! To say that I won the generic lottery negates every bit of work that I did for this trail. This wasn’t given to me; I worked for it and I shed blood and sweat for it. You are just as capable if you’re willing to give as much as I have.

Sorry man didn't mean to negate your effort. I trained as hard as I could for years but poor genetics is a real thing.

Yeah I remember you said you had a hard time breathing on antero. The worst I felt hiking and mining with tools and my dog at the summit zones was the intense urge to urinate.

Sorry dude; I didn't mean to be a spazz about that. I just get kind of worked up when people say that I'm "lucky" to be able to do what I do or anything of the like, because in reality, this is my absolute passion in life. I have literally built my life around doing things like the hike that is written about in the link that I posted, but it ISN"T EASY! It was hard for me to find a job that would allow me to do what I do, and I had to make sacrifices to be able to do it. And as for my fitness, I have struggled with my weight ever since I was young, but I have dedicated thousands of hours to learning about fitness and nutrition and putting those lessons into action by training like a madman not only for hikes like this, but just so I can generally live a healthy and fit life.
And when people tell me that they could never do a thru hike, that's another pet peve of mine. Because I believe that most anyone CAN do it; it's just a question of whether or not they're willing to make the sacrifices that it takes. Unless you're wheelchair bound, you can do it. The year that I hiked the Arizona Trail (800 miles long, and my first thru hike), there was another dude who was doing it who was literally blind! Anyone can do it--it's just a question of whether or not it's worth it to make the sacrifices.
I am blessed in that I made it to adulthood and the path that I took to get here did not provide me with debts or children or a marriage, so I am able to have freedom at this stage in my life, but even with a wife and kids and debts, it's still possible. It just gets harder to justify spending that much time out there in the wilderness.
So I say get out there and do it! Make me jealous!!!!

I've never done more than a 10 mile hike into wilderness then 10 miles out. I would do something like this with my dogs, but I'm worried I would have a kidney stone or something too far away from hospitals. I mine in places that would take a few hours to get out of and to a hospital, but there is something about being so far away from your own ability to leave if you had to.

I know what you mean about people saying they couldn't do those things. My Mom of course is old and 65 but she doesn't push herself at all. She is always saying how weak and tired she is while she eats like shit and doesn't exercise. She goes to the store and comes home and says she's beat. We just went to the house on the rock and walked for 4 hours. She is so lazy. She proved she could do it.
About 8 months ago I weighed 270. I now weigh 185. I was on some meds that made me gain weight. I was hiking 8 miles every day. I also go to the gym 5 times a week and lift. I am on a ketogenic diet and feel better now I am 40 than in my early 20's. My only problem is I have smoked for 25 years. I can still hike but I'm not sure about running.
I have always loved to push myself. In my early 20's I worked at a landscape supply yard. I would work 12 hours lifting blocks and boulders all day. After I would go to the gym and run for an hour on the treadmill and lift for an hour. It wasn't easy but I just had this drive.
I am going to hike the PCT. Only thing is when I was overweight and hiking 8 miles everyday I strained the ligament in my ankle. I took 3 weeks off and it was OK. I just did a 9.4 mile hike the other day and it felt fine. A couple months ago I did a 10 mile and it felt a little weak. I hope it will hold up when I attempt it. It won't be until my dog dies and she is almost 11. PCT here I come.
