Re: Walking 500 Miles on Mushrooms [Re: passifloracaerulea]

I know what you mean about people saying they couldn't do those things. My Mom of course is old and 65 but she doesn't push herself at all. She is always saying how weak and tired she is while she eats like shit and doesn't exercise. She goes to the store and comes home and says she's beat. We just went to the house on the rock and walked for 4 hours. She is so lazy. She proved she could do it.

About 8 months ago I weighed 270. I now weigh 185. I was on some meds that made me gain weight. I was hiking 8 miles every day. I also go to the gym 5 times a week and lift. I am on a ketogenic diet and feel better now I am 40 than in my early 20's. My only problem is I have smoked for 25 years. I can still hike but I'm not sure about running.

I have always loved to push myself. In my early 20's I worked at a landscape supply yard. I would work 12 hours lifting blocks and boulders all day. After I would go to the gym and run for an hour on the treadmill and lift for an hour. It wasn't easy but I just had this drive.

I am going to hike the PCT. Only thing is when I was overweight and hiking 8 miles everyday I strained the ligament in my ankle. I took 3 weeks off and it was OK. I just did a 9.4 mile hike the other day and it felt fine. A couple months ago I did a 10 mile and it felt a little weak. I hope it will hold up when I attempt it. It won't be until my dog dies and she is almost 11. PCT here I come.
