Sweet Mint Problem's
    #25283560 - 06/21/18 03:09 PM (5 years, 9 months ago)

My sweet mint keeps losing all it's bottom leaves.
They will come back and Lose them again.

I'm wondering what could be wrong?

They turn brown in spots and then the whole leaf dies.

They are still spreading like normal.

I've sprayed it with 1 percent soap water thinking it was bugs.

I've fertilized it.

The only thing I can think of is some sort of fungus/disease or its getting too much water.

Thanks! :sunny:

I also think some kind of fungus/disease.
But it could be just too wet in a long period.
You will se when the weather turns dryer.

I'm going to hold off on watering for like a week.
I usually water every two to three days.

If they are diseased would I need to pull them up?

It's three planted together. :homerdoh3:
About eight inch's apart.

Only two really seem to be affected.
Hopefully it won't spread to the third if it is sick. :frown:

I guess time will tell.

Thanks man! :sunny:

I don't whether it's any saving my poor sweet mint.

I'm almost positive it is a fungal disease.

It's spread (Black Spot) to all three now and they are no longer spreading out growth wise.
It's hardly any leaves left.

Maybe some sulphur?
I'm getting some fungicide tomorrow.

Still tempted to try and save them but I'm sure they just need to be pulled up.

If I do pull them.
Should I wait till next year to replace them?

Mint roots very well. I would take some good cuttings, and trash the rest. Sadly, I don't see any hope for that plant.

mine does that when it gets to big I clip it back 4-5 times a year to the base and it grows back fuller. I never let mine get more than 2ft long.

I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

I have a yard full of mint, and I have once never had that happen before. I was going to say, cut it back, and see if it still has the problem when it grows back out.

I'm going to take some healthy cuttings from the tops just to try.
Hopefully they won't have the fungus.

I'll remove the rest of the plants from the ground.
Or should I just trim it back to the ground?

Thanks!

I could not get any healthy looking cuttings.

I cut the plants all the way to the ground.
Trashed all of what I cut off.
