How much longer should i incubate?
    #25321166 - 07/11/18 08:46 PM (4 months, 2 days ago)

These are 2 containers i inoculated. P. cubenesis both started at the same time one on BRF and verm and the other on kernels. Started on 6/21 both were kept in a drawer which i found out isnt optimal so today im taking them out. How much longer would you say i should let them incubate and how much longer is too long where it could ruin them? Im making a Monotub with coir and verm to fruit.
Just trying to figure out when the proper time is to put it in the substrate mixture...its my first grow and i want them to go well.

Kernel looks to have stalled (too dry perhaps (not a favorite grain) shouldn't incubate at all, cubes do dinner at room temps and higher temps are more favorable for contaminants... sit them in the open, ambient light... they brf you'll want to let turn completely white, and wait another week (consolidation)  before birthing it and then doing a 24-hour dunk submerged in tap water before rolling in vermeculite and setting to fruit in a shotgun fruiting chamber... The grain however, you will want to shake around 30% colonization and once it has completely colonized you can either open the jar, case it with verm or peat  (or other casing),and fruit it from the jar, or spawn it to bulk substrate for a shoebox or monotub... I hope this helps

My plan was to break them both up once fully colonized in a bulk substrate monotub, is that a no no? Or will that still work?

It will work just fine... also, to answer your other question, you can't leave them too long, if it starts to pin in the jar, it's super ready, but not ruined... just curious, but why not just cakes (even for spawn),or just grain?

I made a set of jars from scratch with bird seed and it got contaminated so i decided to order pre sterilized jars and i didnt lnow what would be a better substrate so i ordered what i thought were rye grain berries which ended up being corn instead(i think they screwwed up the order) and brf.
