I was doing this before I learned that ISO doesn't kill molds. Now I am back to scrubbing every box
Do you just wipe them out with ISO?

More bottom pins = more shrooms.

Mushboy, that plate u said was mild was indeed mold. Finally sporulated. It's got brown spores. Took 2 months to finally show itself.

we spawn in open air. spores are already everywhere
but it depends. if it looks dirty? scrub it. not every substrate gets the tub all gross. if it does i can almost guarantee you that your using too much water in your mix/your shit is dirty.

Yeah I getcha... something always in my mind while scrubbing tubs. "I'm basically just letting this get covered in mold spores as it dries"

I just wonder why my first three boxes didnโt have any side or bottoms pins whatsoever not even one. And these next three have all had them even though they were made the same way and treated the same way. Maybe genetics or the temperature getting hotter has something to do with it

ambient conditions always fluctuate?
i find keeping the surface as flat and level as possible and the texture of the sub to be the most important parts.

sure why not
based off the crude drawing id say thats more of a elastic mono than a shoebox.

Still struggling with side pins at times myself.

That's true. I said first flush, and the pics I'm seeing look like first flush.
Sidepins are fine after the first flush and the sub pulls in. Let em grow.
Ok, liners don't actually stop sidepins. They can make sidepins less likely. First flush, the side of the tub is already doing that, and sidepins means contamination (usually bacterial) or bad surface conditions.
Or shrooms that just don't give a fuck, and grow where they want!

In my pic, the tub has mad side pins because the surface is shit. I'm almost entirely positive that a liner wouldn't have done anything to prevent it

Haha thatโs an awesome picture. Yeah itโs annoying imagine how much better it would be if they would just stay on top

Best yields from shoebox size substrates I've ever had were in a greenhouse where I put them on the lid and they grew out from every side. (I still didn't want bottom points to grow through and into the shelving)
Stop stressing so much about them if theres room for them to grow! Let em!

Liners help a ton, honestly, if you're very concerned about side pins, but you have to make your liner properly by having two layers (one against the side of the tub and one that shrinks with the substrate) or it doesn't really do a thing
