Post pics here, im not clicking off site links. Besides our image upload strips all data off your images unlike your host.
Cakes do way better packed in a chamber a single cake usually doesn't do so well. I would put more like 12 in at least.
You shouldn't need to mist more than 2-3 times a day. Misting isn't a schedule you do it if needed sometimes 0 times sometimes 3.
Fanning is 100% pointless.

Why do you say fanning is pointless? Is it because with only one cake it won't run out of oxygen in that chamber?
Misting and fanning is a great way to trigger evaporation, especially after misting, which is said to be a fruiting trigger.
As for OP's cakes, you aren't going to get much off of one, but Im sure you already know that.
And I think you could be misting and fanning a bit too much...maybe dial it down a notch. But anyways, it's likely going to take a week or two before you see pins.

A sgfc has 100s of holes. Fanning it is like rolling a window down on a motorcycle. The sgfc gets 24/7 FAE automatically
Removing the lid to mist is more than enough fanning.
The guy who invented the sgfc, RR, also says fanning is basically pointless but the idea is removing mist particles. He also says 10 seconds of letting the sgfc do its thing by itself accomplished the same.
Run out of oxygen? Wut.

Wut indeed.
Mushrooms transpire oxygen. Without air exchange, the chamber's O2 could become deficient.
I saw no indication in the post that the chamber is a SGFC. If indeed it is, then, yeah, obviously you don't have to fan.

Chamber type doesn't matter. An unmodded tub doesn't need fanning either.

It doesn't? Well, that must have changed, because I remember for years that it did.
Kind of like for years 80F was the ideal colonizing temp, now it's less. Or cold shocking used to be a thing you could do, now it's not.

Thankyou all for the replies I guess I should explain it some more.
I followed the PF TEK for my cakes and made a SGFC it has a 4 inch or so layer of perlite and is in a humid area under a 6400k light.
I was lead to believe misting and fanning even in an SGFC was extremely important. I do not have a fan in the room and I thought I needed to introduce fresh oxygen as often as possible.
I’m very new to this, I understand one cake won’t flush much but I inoculated 20 at different times to try different sterilization techniques and this cake colonized and consolidated before any others.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this post and help answer my questions.
From what I gather I don’t need to mist and fan, at least not as often, and the SGFC will take care of evaporation and FAE on its own even in an environment where air isn’t moving often. Is this correct?
Thanks again.

Thanks for your reply, I was lead to believe from different articles and threads that misting and fanning was hugely important. Even on the let’s grow mushrooms website it says it under the SGFC how to section.
If indeed I am wrong Thankyou, and I’ll cut back on both.

I would still lightly mist a few times a day. Just to get some good evaporation happening.

Again Thankyou, I was lead to believe it was very important.
The environment the SGFC is in does not get much circulation at all, but it is the only area cool enough to have the mushrooms.
I have more cakes but they are colonizing, this one finished before any others, and consolidated for 8 days.
Thankyou for any advice I’m very new to this.

Thanks for the quick reply man! I thought it looked good but a few second opinions never hurts, and I will cut back on misting and fanning. It’s all a big experiment and I love learning what works and what doesn’t.

Thankyou! That was very informative! I appreciate you taking the time to write such an answer!
According to others threads my cake looks like it needs MORE air and COOLER air. But apparently I’m just fine.
Would be nice to get any kind of solid answer. I’m trying to learn not show off.
