leaving lights on after adding spawn to bulk substrate

I'm new to cubes and this site has been very helpful at getting started. Thanks to all who contribute to this forum. I also get advice from a friend who has quite a bit of experience with cubes and he insists that I don't need to turn the lights out after adding the spawn to the bulk substrate. That kind of goes against everything I thought I knew about pinning. I've always worked under a red light during this period to avoid premature pinning. I'm just wondering how others feel about this. I'm working with monotubs if that matters.

Your friend is right. You leave the lights on. You leave the lights on the entire process, from the very start. Leave 'em on as close to a 12/12 schedule as possible

Theres no such thing as "premature pinning" or "forced pinning"
The mycelium pins whenever its god damned ready.
If you see pins in jars of spawn thats not "premature". It means the mycelium says it's ready.
Full colonization is the number one pinning trigger. If you get pins before full colonization it's because something is wrong (like bacterial contaminatoon preventing further colonization)

Thanks for the responses guys. Just to be clear pix, does the light need to be on or it just doesn't matter if it's on or not.

Light should be present through your entire grow
It will still proceed without the lights on, but the light is beneficial

Also, light isn't a pinning trigger. That's way outdated info.
