PF Tek Question

I'm growing for the first time, using PF Tek and brown-rice cakes in 1/2 pint jars. What do you do if the mycelia are growing at different rates in the jars? Some are spreading fairly quickly and I expect will be complete in another 5 - 7 days, others look like they'll take considerable longer, especially the jars where only one of the points of spore injection took. If I wait till they're all ready, will that be a problem for the ones that were ready first? Will they loose vigor or...something?
Thanks!

Dont forget they need to spend a week consolidating (though if you see pins birth them)
Just birth them as they are ready in a proper fruiting chamber.
There is a link in my sign for a fruiting chamber design.

Can you explain about consolidating? Do you mean a week after they've spread to cover all the glass?
And when you say "as they are ready"...you mean do it individually, by the jar? So some go into the chamber earlier than others?

Yes. Some go in the chamber earlier than others.
After they are fully colonized consolidation is a period of time where they sit (usually a week) to kinda sit there and digest the substrate.

Yep thats exaclty what it means. As each jar hits the 1 week after full consolidation just dunk and roll them and into the fruit chamber one by one.

Okay, thanks guys. Is the one week of consolidation a new refinement? I've been going with:

as a guide, seems pretty thorough, and doesn't mention that extra week.

Yeah, but that's regarding making the liquid culture, not the stage with brown-rice cakes.

I see now lol... still a great way to ensure the mycelium has a fighting chance...

Also, as it consolidates, the cake will shrink a bit. Makes it much easier to get out of the jar when you birth it. If you birth early, you'll still end up waiting for it to consolidate anyway, so better to do it in the jar than to birth early.
