I heard it takes forever to actually see someone. Unless, ya know, you buy private health coverage.

Health insurance is public in Canada. Private and public clinics accept the public insurance plan. The healthcare delivery system is not that different than in the US. The difference is how things are paid for, and the fact that every type of service has a set, negotiated price. In the US, what you pay depends on what prices you particular insurance has negotiated. If you don’t have insurance, they charge you full price.

I’ve had to go to a clinic in Canada a few times before, once for strep and once for pink eye. Both times I didn’t wait at all and paid with cash the same amount the insurance would pay the clinic. I think I paid about $40 for the strep diagnosis and $80 for the eye exam. The same visit in the US would probably cost $100-$200  at a clinic and $500+ at an er if you don’t have insurance.

I really don’t think waiting times are that different in Canada. The one difference is your wait often depends on the urgency of your need. Also in the US your insurance provider and primary care physician act as a gate keeper for what services you are permitted to receive. In the US if you need to see a specialist, your insurance company and/or your primary care physician needs to approve the visit. Getting to see a specialist in the US can be very time consuming.

In the US OP would not be able to find another doctor if he wasn’t satisfied without asking permission from his insurance provider, and then he would have to choose from a limited list of doctors that accept his plan. In Canada, since there is only one insurance payer, you are free to choose any doctor accepting new patients

OP is a hypochondriac. He’s been given the antibiotic treatment. He needs to see a psychiatrist

My obama care insurance doesn't require a referral for a specialist but some specialists require it.

There is a lot of high quality clinical trials that show prolonged antibiotic therapy has no effect on persistent pain and neurologic symptoms after treatment of Lyme disease. It is just the nature of the disease that some people experience continued symptoms for months to years and there are no known effective treatments for that. I strongly recommend you see a psychiatrist and just try getting therapy about your symptoms and pain, maybe that will help maybe it won’t but it’s worth trying is it not?

Roughly how long would you expect to wait for a specialist appointment in the US?
Rhumatolgist is around 8+ months in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, but was only about a month and a half wait in Montréal
Psychiatrist 4-6 monthsish

Saskatchewan and Manitoba prolly have some of the longest wait times in the country due to fewer specialists

My mother lives in Manitoba was treated for lyme disease last summer
do not recall any particular long wait times for her in the situation, tho do recall her being really tired from treatment

personally hate ticks so give myself a few checks over every night before bed
have been fortunate enough to always catch them before they dig in to feed tho

He had Lyme disease (supposedly - Manitoba isn’t exactly ground zero for Lyme) The doctor said he was given many courses of antibiotic treatment. What exactly does he want the doctor to do?

Have not been following OP outside of this post, but if he got standard treatment am not sure what he is complaining about

my mother had a bloated tick on her back; from what she told me after my step father removed it she had the bullseye style rash which is what prompted her to go in to the doctor

there are tons of ticks around her area, but they are quite a ways out of town--kinda like cottage country, while OP appears to live in Brandon (second largest city in the province) by the video label

Mom did end up traveling to Winnipeg for her treatments tho

Yeah we have the same problem in the US. We actually have a visa program for foreign doctors to practice in underserved areas. You practice in a rural area for some predetermined period of time then you get to stay forever. Often times in little towns the one immigrant living there is the town doctor.

There is a lot of conspiracy mongering about Lyme. Like doctors are covering up the truth and shit like that.

Well first off, his statement comes from a standpoint of the uneducated.

Antibiotic courses are effective at early stages, once you enter the late stage of the process, cyst busters and antibiotics are to be used simultaneously, in order to break open the protective barriers that borrelia create around themselves to shield themselves from antibiotics, although this doesnt remotely come close to eradicating biofilm (another protective barrier), it is still moreso effective than no cyst buster at all.

My comment about iv antibiotics comes from the fact that it allows the drugs to reach the central nervous system more effectively, and, from what I was describing in video, I'm dealing with alot of neurological symptoms, which says to me one of two things:

This is the brain tumour the mushrooms told me I would have growing between my ears, or it's the infection causing inflammation due to a flare up and requires immediate intervention in order to get the symptoms to start receding. Or a combinatory factor of both, as I believe bacteria that manifest themselves in certain ways can lead to what we call "cancer."

Either way, This guy doesn't understand how lyme presents itself in the body, how it behaves, how it works, how to treat it, nor has he ever bothered to educate himself about how to do so, and if he had not half-assedly dismissed me and put falsified hope in my head, I would have been more apt to jump on this jolly-quick and nip it in the bud elsewhere before it manifested into what it has.

My neck feels stiff, like somebody has their foot on it, and I feel tired, achey, inflamed, weak, finger stiffness, memory issues, word pronunciation, it's so terrible. Mowing my lawn (A 30 minute "ordeal," at this point) was a challenge last night.

I've sent the video to news media outlets, it truly looks like I'm going to have to win the lottery and start the Lyme11 Foundation before anybody will take me seriously.

This world is a fucking mess, when people can get bit by something 3 miles from their home, and then travel to a doctor 8 miles from their home, and never receive adequate care, understanding, or compassion for their condition, it is something similar to that of a violation of human rights, and needs to be addressed as such.

I'm fed up with the ignorance of people, because as most of us know on these forums from cannabis, mushrooms, lsd use. These drugs are not what we are being told, and until you experience it you have no idea what the truth behind it all is either.

And, the same applies to lyme, until you contract it and deal with it you'll never know what it truly involves.

Forget disease. It's a borrelia spirochetal infection. Entirely treatable if enough steps are taken.

Disease is a made up word, something we just invented to explain the damage that certain bacteria cause, we are simply seeing the results of on-going chronic infection caused by a wide variety of bacteria, and this is inevitably going to result in the extinction of the human race, until we have a bonefied discussion about what is taking place we are going to succumb to these infections due to the inadequacies of the health care system when it comes to adjusting its views on these things.

So, I'm doing my best, I'm currently sitting here believing this is a tumour, due to the fact that mushrooms told me I was going to come down with Glioblastoma, because Terence truly died of borrelia infection, not glioblastoma cancer.

I have myself on video stating that, from back in january. That's why I'm a little upset with all this. But either way, mushroom vision or not, I should have not been turned away, due to the nature of this infection and what it is known to cause, my concerns should have been taken seriously.

Theo Fourie is a bit of a douche, if you as me, I'd be okay with that if he was pumping somebody's gas, but being in charge of somebody's life and having that sort of attitude is pathetic.

His patients need refunds, I wonder how many other people he's let suffer due to his lack of care and concern?
