Nowhere to go to get away. There is some woods here but there are several coyotes.
The farm kinda sucks to camp at.
Ohio is not great for camping. There is wayne national forest but it's down south and ho hum.

Tons of camping options here in British Columbia.
I prefer backcountry camping but there are a ton of great frontcountry campgrounds as well.
Have met some super interesting (and some super crazy) people while en route to some well known backcountry locations.
My girlfriend and I once met another young couple who were on their way to a rainbow family-type gathering. Spent the next 4 days high as fuck in the coastal rainforest, surrounded by some of the most colourful characters we've ever met. It was a crazy experience with good and bad moments.
On the hike out, we got lost and were lucky to bump into an old man and his wife who had been spending the summer living out of their pickup truck. They gave us water and got us onto an abandoned logging road, which then took us 2 days to hike out back to where our truck was parked.
Our last camping trip, a few weeks ago, was also in the backcountry. We camped at the edge of a meadow and woke up in the middle of the night to hear a pack of coyotes in the distance. A few mins later they sounded closer... then closer... until they were running right past our tent! It sounded like there must have been at least 20-30 of them. It was scary but also amazing and unforgettable!

Got my first peyote at a rainbow gathering.
My dog is nearly 7 and has always been too stuborn for long hikes. We've done several 7 miles walks but that's the most. Just tonight he didn't want his poo walk, then he wanted a long walk after putting a treat in my pocket. It's too hot and we were not prepared for a long walk. Didn't bring water or anything.
He'd probably get me stuck ina bad spot. It's really bad when people drive by on the road and he's being stubborn. I worry someone will call the cops!
He's never been out of Ohio sadly. Not sure how he'd handle road trips.

I was just camping at Devils Lake State Park in WI. I love it there. It rained on and off but I had a great time. I woke up around 1 am and it stopped raining. I was hungry so decided to cook some Italian sausages over the fire. As soon as the fire starts going good it started raining again. I was under trees so I still got them cooked but got wet. They tasted so damn good. I had a weird stick looking bug on my tent pole I got a pic of. A branch fell on my tent and put a small hole in it when I was out hiking.
It's a beautiful place I posted a bunch of pics I took there in the random outdoors pictures thread.

When my dog was younger she would follow me anywhere happily. She had crazy stamina too. Now she is 10 and can only handle about a 5 mile hike. She has ligament issues but has gotten much better with a grain free high protein diet.
In Sep. I will be going to Utah. Going to Arches NP. Staying at a motel near there because the campgrounds I seen near there were expensive and others I was having trouble with their websites. Then Bryce Canyon NP. I will be camping there. Then Zion NP also camping there. There is a hike in Zion called angels landing. It's a 1000 foot ascent up a narrow ridge. Chains to hold on to. Looks crazy. Supposed to be a beautiful view at the top. I seen a video on youtube of the hike. Can't wait. I have driven through Utah a couple times and it's beautiful. The rock formations remind me of another planet from a movie. I found some breweries near them to check out.
Anyone been to Utah?

Going to take a few days off in August and go canoeing/camping. Will be my first days off since mid May. Work everyday in the summer so camping is pretty rare anymore. Been making maps and planning a 45 mile, 8 portage trip, probably solo. Can’t wait to get away!
Have a great time camping, make sure you hide your pic-a-nic basket Logic!

Ive been camping three time this year.
April was a 3 night backpacking trip through smoky mountain national park.
Then in June it was at Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks. We rented a small boat and cruised around the lake for a couple nights. It was so dope.
Then in July I did this cycling thing called RAGBRAI. It’s basically a massive organized bikepacking event with tons of music, booze, and food everywhere. About 20,000 people do it every year from all over th world. 5th year in a row for me but this was the 46th anniversary of the event.
I’m hoping to get one more in this year. Possibly Texas’ Hill Country this Fall with a couple old buddies.

Sounds like a great summer! Would love to see the Adirondack and Smokey mountains sometime. Not sure I want to cycle with 20,000 people though! All I can visualize is a great big pile up

Nah it’s great. Some people hit the road at 6am and others 10am.
Some people stop every 10 miles and pound beers and don’t finish the day until 9pm. Others ride straight through and finish in the early afternoon. I’m with the former, not the latter.

For any Aussies that pop across this thread, I'd recommend the Southern Highlands. Couple hours south of Sydney. Starlights trail overnight hike was recommended to me by a local, and I loved it. Really good if you're chasing a 'lost in the wilderness' type of vibe;tonnes of wildlife, and you're very unlikely to see another person

Next month, I'll be going on a first camping trip with my girlfriend. Well, more of a hybrid camping/road trip. I've always wanted to camp really bad. Just being in nature and away from the noise of my busy job and daily life.
We're doing a tour of the UK. England and Wales mostly. We'll be driving between national parks and try to find camping places there. Some stops will be the North Pennines, North York Moores, Snowdonia and Brecon Beacons.
I'm really looking forward to this. I need it badly at the moment.
